AIBU to ask what you do when you are bored?

I'm bored beyond belief and the day is going very slowly, I have been waiting for a phone call for the last week to see if we have passed a credit and income check for a council house and I can't think of anything else. All house work has been done and the dc are all out at a play date, I'm bored and seem to have forgotten how to entertain myself, so AIBU to ask what do you do to pass the time when you are bored?

Read. De-clutter. Decorating. Knitting.

mumsnet!

FurryDogMother · 25/08/2016 14:32

Put good music or an Audible book on and do some adult colouring books - very relaxing, and if you have a printer there's loads of free pages to download and print. Either that, or I do my nails, or 'recreational' cooking - ie making biscuits, quiches, cakes etc.

FannyAnne01 · 25/08/2016 14:32

I have no clutter to de-clutter as I hate clutter and ornaments as they just collect dust. I left my glasses in the car which is parked at dh work right now so reading is out, I decorated before the schools broke up and we are hopefully moving so no point doing it again and I do have knitting needles and wool but have never learnt to knit.

I watch Escape to the Country, mumsnet, clean, go for a walk.

I can't sit and do nothing.

Vlier · 25/08/2016 14:33

Start learning to knit then. There should be some tutorials on youtube. Start with something simple though, like a scarf.

FannyAnne01 · 25/08/2016 14:37

I'm thinking about having a nap but dh is at work so I think that is probably taking the piss a bit and I would feel guilty.

I have kind of forgotten what it's like to feel bored... All this rushing around I suppose. But if I was stuck at home with no housework or kids to look after these are some of the things I'd do:

  • Drink a cup of tea (or cold alternative) and sit in the garden, have a deep sigh, relax and enjoy the peace and quiet and summer breeze
  • Watch stuff on iPlayer, Netflix etc
  • Sit around reading news articles, reading mumsnet etc
  • Read a book
  • Watch music videos on YouTube
  • Declutter
  • Garden jobs eg. weeding, picking ripe tomatoes, watering.
  • Bake cake or start dinner prep
  • Face mask (I just made one out of cucumber and coconut oil actually... got it on now!)
  • Other pampering: bath, take ages moisturising everywhere and doing hair etc properly rather than rushing like I usually do, paint nails, spend time doing makeup nicely so I feel all fresh and lovely for the rest of the day
. Hmm can't think of anything else right now.
WeetabixLorry · 25/08/2016 14:39

that is probably taking the piss a bit and I would feel guilty ... ha! No way. You only live once. Nap to the max!

youngestisapsycho · 25/08/2016 14:43

I'd be dozing on the sofa, Tv on low in background...

FannyAnne01 · 25/08/2016 14:56

I generally don't the TV on during the day because I'm weird according to dh but I do have last nights Teen Mom OG to watch on catch up, so that might be an option. Where are you all to have weather nice enough to be sitting out in the garden, we've had rain for the last 2 days.

rollonthesummer · 25/08/2016 15:49

I haven't been bored since 1999! Have a nap Grin

jelliebelly · 25/08/2016 16:01

I'm actually quite jealous - I can't remember the last time I was bored!!

Boogers · 25/08/2016 16:04

Read Mumsnet.

NoCapes · 25/08/2016 16:06

Nap

HermioneJeanGranger · 25/08/2016 16:11

Nap, read, Netflix, browse the internet, eat, bake.

Purplepixiedust · 25/08/2016 16:36

I am never bored. There are always jobs I should be doing and I am always busy either doing them or avoiding doing them (mumsnet, right move, Facebook, mse, planning a holiday, budgeting, watching TV, reading, making cakes etc)

user1471552005 · 25/08/2016 16:53

I am never bored either.

I work full time selling stuff on Ebay and Amazon, so I am forever making stuff, packing, repricing. The more hours I put in the more money I make so that's a huge motivation.
I go to the gym several times a week and do a couple of runs too if the weather is nice.
I will sit and have a coffee and an online chat for a break, but if not that then I will clean out cupboards, go though clothes, weed the garden etc.
I enjoy being busy,

Stripyhoglets · 25/08/2016 17:00

I dint get bored but I'd sleep if I couldn't think of anything else to do.

2rebecca · 25/08/2016 17:06

Play an instrument, go to the allotment, go for a bike ride, run, read a book or journal, do some research/ postgrad education related to my job, do some cooking, dressmaking, knit, do my accounts, watch some of the stuff I've recorded and never got round to watching

VaginaJones · 25/08/2016 18:09

Watch netflix
Bake
Use my vibrator
Go to the gym
