To be annoyed?!

Date planned with a guy who is a doctor. The plan was for me to text him when I was free... I messaged saying "how are you? Are you about this weekend?", reply was: "working in [xyz department] all weekend [sad emoji]".

I replied saying "oh no!!" Normally would be more chatty but it has been a really struggle trying to arrange this! When I'm free he's working and when he is, it's short notice and I'm not...

Aibu to just leave it? We have seen each other before, a while back. I can't help but feel like if he was into me, he would be going out of his way more to arrange it?

I can totally see why this is annoying.
When I was a hospital doctor I had a really erratic schedule and was always exhausted. I would send v quick replies just because I knew I might not get time to reply later, plus phone signal in lots of hospitals is rubbish so you nab it when you spot it. I also found it hard to arrange dates for stuff because I was so tired all the time that committing to something other than rest on my off days felt like quite a big deal! And I had less sociable time free than most so had to juggle what I did have between friends, family and OH. I honestly don't know how I'd have coped if I hadn't met OH before I trained!
That's just me though, others seemed to manage it easily so I suppose it depends on his rota and personality.
It's unlikely to get better though, even if you do manage to meet up this time :/

Sorry OP - full reply didn't send. Perhaps give him a few more suggestions then chalk it up to experience? Dh is in the forces and it was tricky to arrange our first few dates. Good luck.

It's tricky a one line text maybe cause his working right now?? If your still interested I would send a well let me know some dates kind of text, Drs do get shifts with a fair amount of notice normally (all though a big rotation is coming so he may not at the moment) if he replies go from there but I wouldn't text again if he doesn't if that makes sense??

Thanks all... Ah I'm sort of in two minds to what to do (give him another chance or sack him off)! No reply to my message which is rude so perhaps just sack off! I'm assuming he gets notice of shifts so if he wanted to he'd be able to suggest alternative dates to meet?

September I when all the Drs move round hospitals can be a bit of a delay getting shifts depending on where you are going if you see what I mean
