No birthday present

WWYD / WWY think? I was unwell with a bug in the days leading up to my birthday recently. The day before my birthday my partner said he had to go shopping. In my poorly (pathertic) state I said 'if it's for my birthday please don't, I'd rather you stayed with me, I feel awful'. So he did. He was fab with me and I was fine in a day or so. However he just simply never got me a birthday gift or acknowledged my birthday in any way at all. It's not like him. I get the impression he was glad of the excuse not go go round the shops!

I'm in no way materialistic (or one for a fuss) but AIBU to feel a bit sad about this?

Um yadnbu no present and no acknowledgement?!! Did you ask him why? Ok you weren't well on the day he planned on going shopping but what does that matter?!

Did he even wish you happy birthday on the day?!

No you aren't. Tell him how you feel and let us know his response!

Sorry - correction. We were up watching the Olympics as the time went past midnight onto my birthday he did kiss me and say happy birthday. That's it.

Could you just casually ask if he has anything planned next weekend since you didn't get to do anything for your birthday? Should give him enough of a hint and he may genuinely have forgotten especially if you were ill enough to need his help. He obviously did have the intention to go shopping originally but a little reminder wouldn't harm him perhaps? Hope he takes the hint and makes up for it well, yanbu

Hmmm, no present well you kinda said no. But he could have made a fuss at least and ,pmaybe said "when you're feeling better we'll go to the cinema/theatre/and out for dinner - my treat for your birthday.

I'd be very upset and disappointed! If he can't get to the shops why couldn't he of at least got on Amazon etc and ordered online? As for no acknowledgement that's just awful, I hope you do the same for his!

maddiem yes I agree I did really. I'll let it go, it just would have been nice to do something / have a small pressie. He's generous and very caring so no issue there at all. It just because I was unwell the day before my birthday was effectively cancelled! I was curious really as to what others would think in this situation. It's not the end of the world of course.

Yanbu to be upset because any gift or card should have been sorted way before that not at the last minute.
