AIBU to want a peacock?

First post but I'm a long time lurker and know the etiquette is to explain if your first post is in Aibu, especially in the holidays.

I love peacocks (peafowl really I suppose). You only see them at stately homes or estates but I'd really like one.

I've been reading up on it and apparently they roam a bit hence not usually being in built up areas, but they come back home like cats do.

I think having a peacock would be amazing, and there are ways you can stop them screeching (not cruel ways). You can also buy a cock for £55, or £115 delivered. (Hens are more expensive.)

OH thinks I'm mostly joking and that next door's cats would kill it.

AIBU to be seriously considering this? I live in a town but it's a quiet road.

Are they tasty?

I think they used to be a real delicacy centuries ago, but fell out of favour for some reason.

Yanbu I love peacocks!
Fell in love when we stayed in a lodge on a big stately home thing. We threw a piece of bread out and a peacock came running over to get it, then about 7 other peacocks came chasing after it. The first one dropped it and another picked it up and legged it, again they all went chasing. It was the funniest thing I've ever seen!

It's not all stately homes with peacocks. I knew someone in North London who had some in his small back garden- he lived in a ground floor flat. I bet he was popular with his neighbours.

Probably because by the time you'd plucked the fucker, you'd died of starvation.

I don't reckon a cat could take down a peacock. That's not to say that some fucker might try to rob it. I say go for it. They're not noisy all the time. I'm jealous. And looking forward to seeing pics.

They're not noisy all the time, but enough if it, between them and the neighbours donkeys it sounds like the end of the world some days!

Still, I quite like the homicidal maniacs fowl, and the donkeys, despite the ruckus. And my cat would have a go, but would probably get a good pecking.
