My neighbours seem to do power tools come 8am many days. But they are tools.

I really need to clean the car before heading off at 8:30, but still feel guilty about the loud hoover.

Am I being totally reasonable?

Go for it.

teafortoads · 20/08/2016 07:49

Yes, it is a one off any your neighbours are clearly up and about at this time making more noise than you will.

Ricecreespees · 20/08/2016 07:51

Yes I would and just be as quick as to can

WeAllHaveWings · 20/08/2016 07:53

I wouldn't. Its not that early but still inconsiderate. I'm sure not all your neighbours use power tools that early, but all will hear it.

Boogers · 20/08/2016 07:55

I was going to say YABU just on the thread title, but if they're renowned for using power tools at 8am on a morning then I'd say bugger them, YANBU, though I would keep it quick for the sake of the neighbours who don't do that.

CantChoose · 20/08/2016 07:55

Yes, what wings said...

Gabilan · 20/08/2016 07:55

My neighbous woke me at 1.30 this morning playing Daft Punk so loudly the noise was uncomfortable in my house. You're welcome to come round here and vacuum

Notso · 20/08/2016 08:01

I wouldn't. Do unto others and all that.

Yesterday I was woken at 7:45 by the hideous noise of builders sliding old slates down a roof on a house round the corner. I did bellow out the window it was too fucking early but they care not.

Liiinoo · 20/08/2016 08:03

I was going to say that is too early for a weekend, 9.00am would be better, but it sounds like a revenge hoovering is the real deal here, so go right ahead.

Ifailed · 20/08/2016 08:03

why not? 8am is well into the day, many people will be up and about.

Afreshstartplease · 20/08/2016 08:06

I wouldn't mind at all if you were my neighbor

2rebecca · 20/08/2016 08:13

I wouldn't before 9 on a weekend.

Ifailed · 20/08/2016 08:20

What's so special about the weekend? For many people its a normal work day; for others they've plenty of other actives, including unpaid work, to get on with. Or do people really lie about in bed 'til midday on Saturdays and Sundays?

madhurjazz · 20/08/2016 08:22

I did it anyway...was with a cordless dyson and closed the doors.

Not so much for revenge just because I needed to and didn't have time yesterday.

Still felt guilty but its windy outside they have double glazing, so probably didn't hear much.

I want neighbours as considerate as me.

Of course YANBU. Weekends in our household are specifically for getting these sorts of chores done Smile

Artandco · 20/08/2016 08:24

I wouldn't. Having usually worked 60-70hr weeks and up early mon-fri, Saturday is usually the first day of any rest.

Surely you should teaching them repeat not copying what you find annoying. The whole treat others how you expect to be treated yourself

TheGruffaloMother · 20/08/2016 08:25

It wouldn't bother me so much, but I do have a toddler!

If all your neighbour's are the power tool tools, go ahead and do some early morning revenge hoovering. Otherwise, I'd wait. Many people only get downtime at the weekend and I'd feel bad if I ruined the only lie in someone got that month.

Sandsnake · 20/08/2016 09:49

Bit early imo, though not ridiculously so. It probably would have been better to have planned to do it before this morning. I was still asleep at 8 (which is not 'well into the day' for everyone Ifailed!) as I'd been up with the baby in the night and was making the most of DH not being at work to make up some sleep.
