To suddenly feel broody at 46

What on earth is going on with me?! I have a son who is 20, I had him when 'circumstances' were right but never felt actually broody.
I don't even have a partner....is this my peri-menopausal body telling me to reproduce quickly before it all goes.....

I had my baby at 3 months off 44 :)

  1. That means you will be 70 when your child is 16. Rather her than me. Although if she can afford nannies, she will be getting a lot of practical support.

Thanks for all the replies, I see I'm not the only one. I would be horrified to have a baby now, I don't have the patience, room or money, my son has SN following a traumatic brain injury, so can still be hard work sometimes, he definitely wouldn't appreciate a new brother or sister!

Would he like a puppy? They have a lot of love Smile

Yes get a puppy. I saw the most adorable little pup yesterday and felt jealous because I'm pregnant and won't be able to have a puppy for years if I want one hehe. Grin I got broody again after selling all my baby things thinking I was done. The sickness has definitely put me off having any more after this.

Think about how hard it would be to lose the baby weight in your late 40s.

EmmapausalBitch · 17/08/2016 09:58

I'm 47, peri menopausal and no broodiness here thank god. I've never wanted kids, apart from a brief bit of broodiness when I was about 30. Spending time with my toddler niece cured me of that! Grin

I do have dogs though. I much prefer them to children.
