It just disappeared!

OP posts:
DontBuyANewMumCashmere · 12/08/2016 18:48

Trolldar pinging from the OP. Poor effort. Stalker in Rio?! Pathetic.

KimmySchmidtsSmile · 12/08/2016 19:05

Ooh, was the stalker Bryan Ferry?

ohidoliketobe · 12/08/2016 19:07

I can't believe it got as many replies as it did

Waltons · 12/08/2016 19:09

The timescale was all off. Just saying that it's worth thinking about these things ...

Jodie1982 · 12/08/2016 19:10

Has it been deleted?

ChubbyButtons · 12/08/2016 19:14

Why on earth go to all that effort? What peculiar trollery

elQuintoConyo · 12/08/2016 19:14

Really? Well, i was taken in like a too-big skirt. Now i feel foolish.

SpaceUnicorn · 12/08/2016 19:14

Has it been deleted?

Yep. Missed most of it cos I was out all day, so don't know if it 'escalated' any further or if the non-Brazil IP address gave it away (of just the friendly wave across the Olympic stadium Grin )

Waltons · 12/08/2016 19:15

Yes - was deleted around 9am this morning.

SpaceUnicorn · 12/08/2016 19:17

Not being sarky, I promise I'm not, but did you not think it a bit implausible that he turned up in Brazil and waved politely to the OP across a sporting event?

Northernlurker · 12/08/2016 19:24

People believed that pile of nonsense? Hmm

Ok

Waltons · 12/08/2016 19:24

I quite like this thread. Wink

MNHQ have clocked off for the weekend and we can actually talk about trolls for once while they sip slurp gin.

There is a reasonable discussion to be had about Trolls and why they manage to "push buttons" for users of this site. It won't give them any hints at all. They already know the tricks - it's the gullible who need to learn.

Don't know why I bothered though - this thread will have gone Pfft! before I can hit send.

MrsRaegan · 12/08/2016 19:25

What happened with the one where the OP'S friend emailed about her daughter being at her door?

FlissMumsnet · 12/08/2016 19:28

I can put you all out of your misery [drum roll ] the thread was slightly suspect so it's been zapped

Waltons · 12/08/2016 19:29

No other news than that it was a Troll.

Waltons · 12/08/2016 19:32

*FlissMNHQ^, PLEASE can we have a real discussion about Trolls, even if that includes references to recent threads.

Maybe we even need something new on Site Stuff?

hooliodancer · 12/08/2016 19:34

Only slightly? So it could be true then?

My friend once bumped into his first ever girlfriend at a weird foreign airport. It was a split second after I had said "wouldn't it be funny if we bumped into someone we knew". The airport was absolutely heaving too, so a huge coincidence.

I am very gullible I think. I believed it, even the getting up for a drink!

elQuintoConyo · 12/08/2016 20:26

No, i didn't believe it spaceunicorn, i was bored on the bus reading this thread and quite liked my skirt analogy.

Don't trust everything you read on the internet Wink

Anything you read on here could be real - or not. To me it doesn't matter how suspect things sound it could always be true. There's nothing as weird as people and real life. There's little that sites like this can do about trolls apart from obviously deleting threads when it becomes obvious. It's sad and pathetic and yes can be damaging. But - and I'm not saying it's here on this thread but I have seen it - it's also not nice to see people almost laughing at how gullible they think others can be, especially if they state they knew it was a troll all along.

SpaceUnicorn · 12/08/2016 20:45

Not always, no. Sometimes troll threads are so riddled with contradictions that they are very obviously fake.

ToDuk · 12/08/2016 20:52

FlissMumsnet what about the one about the email re the 12 yr old daughter? Was that suspect too?

namechangingalltheway · 12/08/2016 21:16

Slightly suspect? I didn't know Mumsnet deleted threads unless they were sure Confused

StaleOreo · 12/08/2016 21:25

We just don't get high calibre trolls here any longer.

I saw this one in Trending , read the full thread title and didn't even click on the thread as it was clearly a bridge dweller.

Mari50 · 12/08/2016 21:55

This was the first post I just thought 'oh for gods sake, this is utter shite, I'm going to report this' seriously? We're in Brazil and there he is- hahahahah
