"Women are better at multi-tasking". AIBU to say something when people say this?

In the shop today...with DH. I was at the till, paying for some lights...when I handed some notes over to the cashier, one of them fell.

I said "Oh sorry...I'm trying to do too much at once" because I was handing cash over and also trying to shut my purse.

She then said

"Nooooo! Women are good at multi tasking!"

All proud.

So I said "I'm not" and she said "Yes! Yes! Women can do multiple things at once!"

So I said "Nah...that's just some rubbish put out to ensure we do the lions share of the crappy jobs"

And she went

"Oh!"

Then I left with DH...who laughed at me when we got outside and said "Well you made her think!". I do think that...I think that this is a load of old cobblers!

AIBU to think this is a load of old shite?

Love it, that's gonna be my response from now on.

But that was my excuse for watching the telly whilst doing my homework in the 80s.

Oh good! Glad I wasn't being ott! It's one of those things that really irritates me!

Personally I'm bloody awesome at multi tasking, I never spill a drop of wine when I'm doing other things...

YANBU. Gender stereotypes should be challenged, especially ones so ingrained that people think they're actually true.

I do a similar thing when people mention 'man flu'. DH carries on regardless when he's ill and I make a giant fuss when I am. These things about women being multitaskers and super tough whereas men are faffers and babyish about being unwell are daft.
