Please explain why this is a bad thing?

Notimefortossers · 11/08/2016 21:25

Maybe she wants to raise awareness? That's a pretty serious gash in her leg. I was sick in my mouth a little

tupperwareAARGGH · 11/08/2016 21:27

I'm just interested in how much they get paid and what kind of DM story I can come up with if the price is right Grin

LellyMcKelly · 11/08/2016 21:30

I actually laughed out loud at her eating a sandwich in her hospital bed, with a sad face on! Thanks for that.

hazelnutlatte · 11/08/2016 21:30

Someone I went to school with did her story in a variety of trashy magazines (take a break etc) and I really can't fathom why she did it! I really admire her (she had a terrible life changing accident and has been really inspirational in the way she has got her life back together) but the articles are so cringy, going on about how she felt when her DH first saw her naked etc. She did more than one magazine story so I doubt it's because she didn't realise how cheesy they would be.

ItShouldHaveBeenJess · 11/08/2016 21:37

I know a TakeABreaker too - her ex husband had a heart attack during sex. The published article has done wonders for her romantic life though....

Dexterjamesmummy · 11/08/2016 21:39

We only did ours because we were raising money to buy sensory equipment in memory of my son, DM never paid us a penny despite saying they would.

DandelionAndBedrock · 11/08/2016 21:40

When I had an operation I asked the nurse to take a picture of me to send to my friends. She asked me if I wanted to look like I was recovering well or like I was feeling really rough. I said recovering well, and she said "oh, I'll move the drip stand and take the blanket away!"

Apparently some people ask her to stage more pathetic looking ones.

DandelionAndBedrock · 11/08/2016 21:41

Dexter that is despicable of them Angry.

Rachcakes · 11/08/2016 21:45

Dexter didn't you sign a contract? The DM are usually sticklers for it.

Dexterjamesmummy · 11/08/2016 21:45

Dandelion yes it is. They pay based on the amount of pictures they use in the article (if they pay you) and they used quite a few in ours. Wonder if this thread will end up in the DM.....

hazelnutlatte · 11/08/2016 21:49

My brother once found himself the subject of an article in the Sunday People - he didn't consent to being in the article or being quoted, but he did receive a cheque for £200 in the post!

Dexterjamesmummy · 11/08/2016 21:49

I can't remember if we did sign a contract, I know we didn't agree on a figure as they said they would make a donation and we didn't want people to think we were profiting from his death so we just gave them the bank details and left it at that. No donation was ever received.

Waffles80 · 11/08/2016 22:06

It's an agency story she's clearly done to raise awareness - the mail online have bought the copy and the pics from the agency. She won't have been able to have much say about who buys the content.

trafalgargal · 11/08/2016 22:15

Wonder if it's the same sad face story a friend of mine just posted on fb saying she was misrepresented in it.

WalkerBait · 11/08/2016 22:24

My dm done one recently Hmm

I'm yet to LTB

cityrat79 · 11/08/2016 22:25

Isn't the biggest question why she wanted that picture framed?

Something for the downstairs loo perhaps.

MissHooliesCardigan · 12/08/2016 07:30

Doing a sad face for the DM is on my bucket list - I've been perfecting it for years. Ideally, I'd like to get all the kids in as well. I tripped over a loose paving stone the other day and grazed my knee but they weren't interested.
I'm going to treat myself to a chicken curry ready meal tonight and I'm secretly hoping that there's no chicken in it.
