Nice wholesome decade - with not a mobile phone in sight.

I wish I could have known him then...

That's another song of his I love, Brenda

I must thank the Radio 2 programme Pick of the Pops for introducing me to Adam Faith's music!!

Not read the thread so someone might have mentioned it, but there was an 80s or 90s tv series with Adam faith and Zoe Wannamaker which I loved at the time. Adam faith was obviously much older than in his 50s heyday but still attractive

user1466795981 · 13/08/2016 22:39

Yes I remember that it was 'Love Hurts' MsKite - I wished I'd watched it initially but I think I just caught the repeats around 2001 .

Yes he was definitely still attractive!

Yes I've just googled it. He was a lot older than Zoe though wasn't he? U used to watch it with my mum Smile

MsKite · 13/08/2016 22:41

I used to! I don't remember you being there

user1466795981 · 13/08/2016 22:46

MsKite - just googled and no - actually he's less than 9 years older than Zoe!

Adam Faith used to live in/near Westerham when DH was working there -he saw him in a cafe a couple of times.

Athenia · 13/08/2016 22:56

I'm probably the oldest person posting on here ( at the moment) but Adam Faith wasn't a 50s singer, he was 60s. If your talking about looks, look up Ricky Nelson. Watching him on YouTube while I'm typing this. I still adore him. By the way, I'm 70.

MsKite · 13/08/2016 22:56

Bloody hell really?! She looks a lot younger.
I also remember him being in a drama where he was a burglar/murderer and I think that was his last role before he died. That was good too.

MsKite · 13/08/2016 22:58

Apparently it was an episode of'murder in mind'
On Wikipedia it says his last words were about channel 5 being crap

Nibblets · 13/08/2016 22:59

There's a rivetting 30-minute Face To Face interview with Adam Faith - aged 20 in 1960 - on You Tube. He comes across as a lovely young man - very sincere, thoughtful and pleasant.

RustyBear · 13/08/2016 23:00

Sunnymeg Was this the coat? It's the one he often wore in Budgie.

Oh yes, Ricky Nelson was lovely. Some of them (eg. Bobby Ver) have their hair a bit too bouffant for my taste. Moot point since I'm in my twenties.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 13/08/2016 23:03

Bobby Vee, that should say.

liz70 · 14/08/2016 00:08

"I love James Cagney in the 1930's."

I have fond teenage memories of sitting with my Nan in her living room watching Jimmy Cagney films.

user1466795981 · 14/08/2016 10:10

Athenia - Yeah although his first song came out in 1959 - I suppose he is more of a 60s singer.

I also love Bobby Vee.

Just going off to look up Ricky Nelson!!

Just looked up a pic of Ricky Nelson. Yes. Definitely!!

I like Bobby Rydell as well.

Do any of you get the Dreamboats And Petticoats monthly e-mails? I've found a few new songs I like from those.

happypoobum · 14/08/2016 10:44

I met Adam Faith in London in the 80s. He did have a certain glow about him, still very blonde and pretty boy but not really my type - I prefer the Michael Praed type like very bitchy

Adam Faith was very short though IIRC. No taller than me and I am 5ft 5. He was happily signing autographs as we had our breakfast together in the hotel dining room Smile

bruffin · 14/08/2016 10:58

A bit more recent, but Michael Praed circa 1982 would get it every time.
Actually Michael Praed still looks good, He was in War of the Worlds at the Dominion with David Essex, who despite being grey still looks amazing, and has that twinkle in his eye, he had back in the 70s

I was born early 60s and always had a soft spot for Adam Faith, he was gorgeous.

user1466795981 · 14/08/2016 10:58

happypoobum - that's so good you got to meet him!

Thanks Nibblets I'll have to check that out!

mskite - Jamie Theakston was in that as well I remember the final scene which was poignant as Adam had passed on by the time they showed it. I can remember at the time that it was unusual for Jamie to be in a drama like that as he's better known for presenting.!

happypoobum · 14/08/2016 14:25

I fancy Jamie Theakston too Grin

LastGirlOnTheLeft · 14/08/2016 22:25

User I could well believe it...Paul Newman in The Long Hot Summer swoon swoon swoon!!!! Those blue eyes are unforgettable!
