Nice wholesome decade - with not a mobile phone in sight.

I wish I could have known him then...

Loved Adam. Loved him in Love Hurts, properly lusted after him Blush. Very sad when he died.

user1466795981 · 10/08/2016 21:05

I loved him in love hurts as well Shelagh - it was really sad when he died. I was shocked tbh - he was still acting right up until the time she died.

YADNBU - Adam Faith was gorgeous. I also love Allan Clarke (the lead singer of The Hollies) and Humphrey Bogart!

DiscordiaVanDiemen · 11/08/2016 14:00

Have you seen "Beat Girl" OP? I love that film.
And actually I listened to Adam Faith singing "The First Time" about 6 times yesterday.

I was also Born Too Late (my theme song Sad) I've been hopelessly in love my entire life with an actor who was born in 1932. Unfortunately I was born in the dreary late 1990s Angry

user1466795981 · 12/08/2016 12:30

Smokey - I love The Hollies' songs but had to google Allan Clarke!

Discordia - no I haven't seen Beat Girl! I need to spend more time listening to Adam's songs. My fav song of his is 'The Time Has Come'!

You were born in late 90s? My fav year ever was 1997 - I loved that year!

Can't think of an actor born in 1932 off top of my head - my mum was born 1931 so of similar vintage! I'll have to keep guessing!!

My current crush is Gene Kelly in The Cross of Lorraine.

I mean, wouldn't you?

He can tap dance on rollerskates, too. Swoon.

LikeDylanInTheMovies · 12/08/2016 14:02

Is that in Xanadu view? A film that has to be seen to be believed, but Gene possibly past his prime by then!

Viewofhedges · 12/08/2016 14:13

I don't know, I've not seen it, I just saw that picture and then nearly fell on the floor with lust I think I was supposed to be working at the time and got distracted.

How about this one? back to work! back to work!

Oh view you are in for a treat. A 70 something Gene on rollerskates with Olivia Newton John. Bonkers.

Viewofhedges · 12/08/2016 14:49

Oh I misunderstood: re tapdancing on rollerskates when he was definitely less wrinkly then you need to go to Someone there says it's Always Fair Weather? I need to watch more Gene Kelly films Grin

Right, that's it, I need to go and watch that clip again do some work now!

DiscordiaVanDiemen · 12/08/2016 14:54

My favourite Gene Kelly film is The Pirate (it's also my favourite Judy Garland film) It didn't do too well when it was first released in 1948, apparently a bit too different from their usual type of film.
Lovely Cole Porter music too Smile

bacardigan · 12/08/2016 15:03

OP - he also had a brilliant sense of humour!

BeckerLleytonNever · 12/08/2016 16:16

*''General pitney''.

I don't recall learning about him in history lessons*

Grin that post made me howl with laughter!!!!!!!!

I have a crush on the young Billy J Kramer in the 60's before my time too. when he sings ''little children'' on an old TOTP r something, im melting into those eyes of his.

And George Harrison in the early Beatles days.

I love young Adam Faith too, he looks like another guy I have a crush on, Michael Craze, the actor who played Ben in early Doctor Who.

romany4 · 12/08/2016 18:33

yabu. I've been in love with Eddie Cochran since I was 15. Didn't discover him till 1987 and he had died in 1960. Love his music. Beautiful man

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 12/08/2016 18:42

Bobby Darin was a gorgeous singer. I have a bit of a thing for James Fox...

I loved Gregory Peck in The Omen, waaaayyyyy back in the late 70s when I first saw it as a kid! Even now, he is still so sexy and strong and RAW in it I almost feel like swooning!

Paul Newman is another one......one of the few men whom I could ever describe as actually beautiful.

BrendaFurlong · 13/08/2016 22:17

I met Davy Jones in the 80s when he appeared at a local theatre. I'd been brought up on the Monkees courtesy of my DM, and absolutely adored them. He was a very nice man. I got an autograph and a kiss on the cheek. He had to stand on tiptoes to reach it.

DM's real loves were Adam Faith and Marty Wilde. I can still remember her singing What do you want if you don't want money? to me when I was little.

user1466795981 · 13/08/2016 22:33

LastGirl - I just googled Gregory Peck - got to admit he is gorgeous.

There was some survey out a few years ago - IIRC that said that Paul Newman was widely believed to be most women's favourite pin up down the years.
