AIBU to have told a fellow 'fan' to shut the feck up?

Concert last night (£55each for me and dh), booked swanky hotel for cheeky night away also ! Booked standing tickets - fine- am just about young enough to stand for hours and move about to avoid tall people /bobbing heads /fellow boogiers (if that's a word?) waited 2 hours for act to show (also fine - adds to the excitement!) ate Mars bar and sipped coke (didn't wanna risk loo break and lose hot spot near the front)! Group of early 20's next to us (also fine have kids in same age group) - who proceeded to drink solid for the 2hours - prob 6 pints each - took turns to go bar and save hot spot - still fine - until Mr Red Top decided to wait until act started and chat to his friends! Loudly! About owt and nowt up really. Got very distracting and a muscley dude asked him to stop bumping into him (hopping about - prob needed a wee!) then his chat turned to talking about his loo habits and how he wipes his bum!! My BP started rising so I told him to basically shut the feck up! Said he didn't know if he could so I said well can u really really try?! He was drunk and the group had earlier talked about pretending to be disabled to sneak to the front and how they should have brought pills to get the party started!! My dh told him he was a total prick and he shut up then!! We moved along to the other side of muscley dude but felt bad as we ob juggled past /in front of other 's who were trying to enjoy the act!! Didn't see any security near us - even when he was throwing his empty plastic cups behind him and they landed on people! Didn't really spoil the night but is it acceptable to act like a hooligan at a concert or did he think it was normal behaviour? His friends looked embarrassed and stood between him and muscley dude to avoid further trouble! Was quietly hoping he would give him a shove back!!
Vent over!! Do we put up with crap in society because we are too polite or was I being unreasonable to tell him to shut up?

We had this so many times at a festival this year. There's a whole fucking 100 acres of space but no, some twat will decide to stand in front of you while you're watching a band and have a lengthy conversation with their mates. And of course they're yelling because they have to shout over the noise of the band. Just why???

We went to a rugby match. He got drunk. In a bar after and walked up to a Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeuge bloke and pushed him in the chest:

BIL: You're from Orrell incha?
HB: Yeah, how did you know?
BIL: cos your fuckin ugly [looks behind him grinning as the rest of us melt into the crowd]
HB: (grabs BIL by the ears and sort of pumps him up and down, on and off his tippytoes) Please don't be so rude, I'm big and if I get angry I could hurt you

Orrell crowd laugh and pat HB on the back, BIL goes in for seconds, HB puts one arm up.... "Please don't" ... at which point BILs mate grabs him and pulls him out.

Oh, we were in Orrell... Confused

Nope! This does my head in.

I went to see John Legend a couple of years ago in quite a small, intimate venue. We had a group of girls who looked like they were on a hen do sat next to us who talked ALL the way through his first couple of songs, then started caterwauling along to the songs they knew the words to! Angry

If I go to a gig or concert, I go to see the artist perform, not to hear someone else sing or talk over them! Rant over. YADNBU.

A gig early this year in Coventry was probably one of the worst I have EVER been to.
The act is renowned for having quite full-on, pushy, shovey gigs, which, after 13 times of seeing him, I am totally used to and know where to stand to avoid.
This time, however, the drinking that went on through the support acts was colossal and what followed made me feel quite scared for my safety - all ages, both male and female got very lairy and violent, and very very drunk - to the point of not being able to stand up...swaying blindly into you, hanging on to you to stop themselves falling over etc. The icing on the cake was when the woman (old enough to know better) next to me bent down and threw up causing me to have to leap out of the splatter-zone! This was right in front of a security guy who did absolutely nothing.
It was totally distracting having to watch you back all the time and not be able to concentrate on the act that I had paid to see.
I know I will go to see this act again but never in that venue again!

People who chat on the phone during concerts piss me off to! If the phone call is that important, surely it's important enough to take outside?!?

YANBU. We went to see Springsteen earlier this year, over £100 a ticket and everyone round us just bellowed to each other over the music except for the few well known songs he played where they got up and danced drunkenly. It was really annoying.

This! I was at Springsteen in Coventry fairly recently, and I couldn't have heard anyone else roaring at the top of their voice, far less registered the details of what they were saying!

Yes! I was wondering that! I don't talk at concert as that's not why I've come and if I want to be heard I usually have to shout in to dh's ear. I've never noticed other people chatting away though? You wouldn't hear to have a conversation

We were in a stadium. The people were shouting and shouting along row to their friends. We could hear them easily.

I went to see Fleetwood Mac at the O2 and we were sat down and people round us chatted the whole way through. I asked them to shut up but they were too drunk too stop. We left early I was heavily pregnant and my blood was boiling!!!! Bastards....

When I went to see a musical recently, and a row of women behind me chattered constantly throughout. If you want a chatty night out, go to a quiet pub.

Also I went to see a play in the round - in the front row you were so close as to be practically part of the performance. One of the women in the front row played on her phone for about half an hour after the play had started. One of the actors eventually stopped and gave her a thorough dressing down and people applauded.

Not unreasonable. He was being a PITA and spoiling the enjoyment of others around him.

I was at a gig a couple of years back, near the end of the aisle with a couple of empty seats beside me. Some random bloke appeared and took one of the seats and whilst I didn't pay him much attention I did sense he was a little hyper/drunk/wired. Anyway, for reasons best known to himself he thought it would be appropriate to lunge and wrap his arms around me, I guess in hindsight it was his idea of camaraderie though what gave him the idea I wanted to be his buddy I don't know. He looked rather surprised when my fist instinctively connected with his nose.

Is this a new thing - talking/being on phones during a performance? Don't want to sound like my dad but I don't remember it happening 20 years ago. Obviously not the phone thing. Shoving people and being drunk and behaving like twats at concerts has always happened but I don't recall people talking through them!

Wasn't at a concert but last week we took DD and her friend to a local kid's attraction.

In the afternoon, there was an outdoor bird of prey show which we decided to watch. It was pretty tricky to hear the bird man as it was through his microphone but it was really interesting!

This couple came and stood right behind us and started a running commentary to their grandchildren.

I huffed and puffed a bit hoping they'd get the hint that everyone was trying to listen - especially when the grandad joked about who's listening to the commentary, that bloke's flogging a dead horse - err us you numpty!!! Well at least trying to listen.

After several hurrumps from me and the odd glare or two to no avail, DH turned and politely told them we were trying to listen so if they're not interested could they please move!

The grandad laughed and suggested to his grandchildren that they move away from the 'sad man'! Shock

I could have bloody swung for him!

I went to see Jom Gomm in Manchester one year, really small venue, probably only 150-200 people there and there were so many people talking and playing games etc on their phones. Jon Gomm actually stopped playing and said if they didn't quieten down they'd need to leave as they were ruining it for everyone else. It was such a small, quiet dark venue for an acoustic gig that every noise was so loud and distracting.

|I went to see my fav artist last year and 10 seconds before he came on stage, this lardy lump came and stood right in front of about 4 of us - about 6ft 6 he was. The others were huffing and puffing and I just started poking him in the back continuously - he turned around and I told him we had been there ages waiting, and to just come in at the last minute, and block 4 people and just talk to his friend and be on his phone was rude and I would continue to poke him until he moved. The others also glared at him and he moved. Wanker. I got many high fives that night as he was blocking others behind the ones right behind him.

Some people are just bloody rude/unreasonable/unthinking. We've been near to people who sit quietly (at what's called 'cabaret seating') but then talk non-stop as soon as the act (who were really good) come on stage.

I mean if you're not really going to listen to the band (after paying good money) why not stay at home and put a record on? If you don't listen to that properly you can always put it on again - not the case with a live band.
