Apparently girls and boys should be learning different words....

Ffs. I feel so sorry for my dd, having to face this shit as she grows up.

Can I whisk her away to an island somewhere? Save her from this shit.

HeCantBeSerious · 08/08/2016 10:48
Angry
FastandLoose · 08/08/2016 10:50

Wow! I try not to worry too much about gendered toys, but that really is taking the piss.

Stillunexpected · 08/08/2016 10:50

Seriously??? You'd think in the 21st century we'd be over this shit. Apparently not.

MovingOnUpMovingOnOut · 08/08/2016 10:52

I have a few words for the makers of those. Mostly 4 letters but also...

Misogyny
Feminism
Equality
Stereotype
Backwards

Stillunexpected · 08/08/2016 10:52

Some great reviews of the girl words on Amazon. Mind you, some of them are several years old and they're still peddling them so they haven't made any difference to Amazon's point of view.

NapQueen · 08/08/2016 10:52

Crap isn't it.

Doesn't stop shoppers buying either set for either child, but why label them that way.

Stillunexpected · 08/08/2016 10:53

Never mind, I expect we'll be seeing our outrage quoted in the Daily Fail tomorrow.

Cagliostro · 08/08/2016 10:54

Ugh. Have seen them before

Hoppinggreen · 08/08/2016 11:06

I don't normally get het up over this sort of thing but that's bloody outrageous.
Might go over to Amazon and leave a " review"

Hoppinggreen · 08/08/2016 11:11

I just showed my 11 year old DD - her comment?
" so I can't spell frog because I don't have a willy!!??"

lionheart · 08/08/2016 11:19

Bloody hell(ess)

cherryplumbanana · 08/08/2016 11:21

well, they are still selling so some people like them and are buying them. It's a free country. I might not agree with the content, but that's irrelevant. We have a choice.

You are actually giving them free publicity, and I bet this thread will bring in a few more sales. It's not new: controversial subject brings publicity which brings sales and revenue. Once again, it works.

HeCantBeSerious · 08/08/2016 11:22

I spotted this in Argos last week.

Love the reviews and comments on Amazon!

SilverDragonfly1 · 08/08/2016 12:23

I've always wondered what happens if you teach girl's words to a boy . I never risked it of course! Do they actually turn into a girl, or just become gay?

Proud to say my son is 22 and still doesn't know what lemonade is!

ceebie · 08/08/2016 12:42

Loving the Amazon reviews - agentGav's comments and others!

dizzyfeck · 08/08/2016 13:01

Hoppinggreen perfect, also she doesn't need to worry her pretty little head about such things as frogs, because her lack of a willy makes her less interested in frogs and toads, unless of course they have glitter fluff and wings! At least that's cleared up.

wasonthelist · 08/08/2016 13:39

I noticed the featured 5 star review was also highly ironic -

"Thank goodness the set excludes any complicated words like Doctor, or Car, or Career, or heaven forfend: Reading. We don't want our little ones to get silly ideas in to their head"

:)
