Night out to Edinburgh Festival to see well know comedian. Brill show. Fab time with dh and 16 and 18 year old ds.
Mid fifties couple in front of myself and ds who start to make out. Not talking about a kiss here. His hands were way down inside back of jeans and if not there were resting inside top of bra strap. Up her top resting on back bra strap. This couple were constantly touching each other during show. There were tongues, constant stroking each other's back. I seriously thought she had wind in the beginning and he was thoughtfully stroking her back.

Had no idea where it was going. Seemed like they wanted to have their own show if you know what I am saying.

Question. Wtf should I have said to them without coming over as prude. My boys thought it was totally gross and funny. My dh just laughed about it. What really got me is the creep kept on looking behind him to seemingly gauge our reaction. Kinda feel a bit grimey tonight. And tbh spoiled the show for me.

Nothing. It's none of your business. He was stroking her back not stripping naked and having sex on the floor.

Get a grip.

And why does their age matter?

"Hands way down in back of jeans" is hardly just "stroking her back" Hmm

OP I'd have been pretty revolted and the checking to gauge your reaction is creepy.

Age is relevant: by mid fifties the couple should no better - although I suspect he did and was enjoying getting off on your discomfort. Yuk!

DublinBlowIn · 08/08/2016 05:59

rudy it matters because the OP felt creeped out and grimey and it ruined the show for her. Or is that irrelevant because the men were all fine?! Hmm FFS!

In their 50s !! People of that age shouldn't be behaving like that.

VashtaNerada · 08/08/2016 06:18

Age isn't relevant but behaviour isn't on, particularly if he was looking back at you! Shock I'd have spoken to an usher (if there was one).

ProfessorPreciseaBug · 08/08/2016 06:20

Why not?

Just asking

pearlylum · 08/08/2016 06:24

Surely people give up sex at that age?

ProfessorPreciseaBug · 08/08/2016 06:28

No way...
Now pushing 60 and still at it.... although not as often as when we were married back in 84.

OnionKnight · 08/08/2016 06:31

Pearly stop being a goady fucker.

pearlylum · 08/08/2016 06:31

I don't believe it! Surely things stop working past a certain age?

pearlylum · 08/08/2016 06:33

Onion it's called humour.

ProfessorPreciseaBug · 08/08/2016 06:39

Shagging is no laughing matter..
Not shagging is serious.

YvaineStormhold · 08/08/2016 06:47

I'd have leaned forward when he turned round and said in a vicious stage whisper.

"Pack it in, Casanova. I've paid to watch comedian, not you!"

But I've got a very low tolerance for people bothering me at gigs, etc.

pearlylum · 08/08/2016 06:49

Op why were you leering at other people rather than watching the show?

YvaineStormhold · 08/08/2016 06:52

Hard not to for some people, pearly.

I can't concentrate on shows, gigs, etc if people are talking next to me. It just ruins the experience.

So I death stare and they go away Grin

I'd have been distracted by these two, and would have had to say something.

pearlylum · 08/08/2016 06:57

Talking is one thing, noise is hard to ignore but we can choose where to focus our eyes.
What is someone close is texting, or a kid picking their nose, or a woman breastfeeding, why choose to watch these things rather than the show?

toadgirl · 08/08/2016 07:17

They probably have the most boring sex life in the world and need to do this for kicks to liven things up. Feel pity for them.

YvaineStormhold · 08/08/2016 07:17

I'd find texting distracting because of the light.

The other two examples I wouldn't even notice.

Thing is, if a couple are making out directly in front of you, unless you're a swinger, that's a pretty unusual position to be in. So that alone would distract me.

The constant movement would be another issue.

Then once the guy had made eye contact a few times I'd be irritated drawn in and unable to concentrate, so I'd have to tell him to pack it in.

Intolerant old bag, that's me Wink

NotYoda · 08/08/2016 07:23

I'd say, get a room.

NotYoda · 08/08/2016 07:24

Yes, over 50's have sex. Just no need for them to do the foreplay bit in public. Or anyone.

pearlylum · 08/08/2016 07:26

Yes, over 50's have sex.

Surely not.

AgentProvocateur · 08/08/2016 08:01

It's Edinburgh in August. Anything goes.

myownprivateidaho · 08/08/2016 08:05

Eh, if the hand was actually wrist deep inside the jeans that's a bit bad. Still wouldn't say anything though. I always find PDAs quite sweet, can't understand why british people hate then.
