When I left my violent and abusive ex I had been a sahm so needed to go on benefits. This caused trouble getting somewhere to rent. In the end I lied and said of course I wasn't on benefits, I was supported by my parents, who then had to be guarantors for me.

Or could you rephrase it so that you say you have a student grant and the rent will come out of that lot?
