To be shocked by Channel 4's new programme?

Sorry if this has already been done (I had a look to see if there were any others but couldn't find any).

So I haven't don't want to seen it but I've heard that Channel 4 has released a new programme called Naked Attraction. A selection of women or men stand in pods completely starkers and they get revealed from the bottom up. There is then a contestant who eliminates one of the candidates based on things they don't like about them.

AIBU to think this is appalling, body shaming people and objectifying people? Do people agree or do I need to lighten up?

Think it would have been a v different ( and more entertaining ) show with a different presenter...Graham Norton anyone? 😀

For those saying what a terrible show it is etc etc. Worth noting it received the largest audience share for its times lot compared to ANYTHING else on TV at that time which in the commercial world of TV making makes it a roaring success. They'll be looking for contestants for series two imminently! The format is also being sold worldwide.

Nothing to do with naked bodies, I'm sure

Destiny i remember that quiz show Carnal Knowledge he presented back in the 90s.

OK, I've watched it now and have to say that it's not particularly sexy - just rather awkward - that's all.

The meeting and hugging as each contestant was eliminated was very awkward with a mile between both parties as they hugged Grin

It's not a great format though and I like the suggestion from a pp of holding it in a sauna or pool.

I do like seeing naked men on TV though so maybe I'm odd Blush

I'm more concerned of the image it's portraying that women need to be shaved or plucked so much. The sex educator tackled this well with teen about the porn image being seen as necessary amongst younger people these days.

mathsmum314 · 09/08/2016 22:18

there is so much porn around these days, how can anyone say this show is just a success because perverted people want to look at naked bodies.

If anything the bodies are far more normal than that of a porn star.

ChocolateButton15 · 09/08/2016 22:42

It's not portraying that women need to be plucked and shaved. The first episode the woman had hairy armpits and full pubes. The second one also had women with pubes.
I think it's a desperate cringy programme but the bodies are normal and they have had different body types. With this type of programme you only tend to get exhibitionists on there so you won't get a huge range of body types.
Even though there hasnt been any body shaming I think most will end up regretting going on this programme.
I feel it's a sad sign of the times that TV finds this an acceptable program.

Destinysdaughter · 10/08/2016 17:00

Well there is a deluge of porn on the internet a couple of clicks away so I guess it's lost a lot of the stigma it used to have.

BuntyFigglesworthSpiffington · 10/08/2016 17:21

I don't care about the knobs and the fannies. But it's just so boring. That presenter woman is super annoying.

Destinysdaughter · 10/08/2016 18:56

It's boring as there's no mystery!
