To think this is a cheeky offer?

My husband and I went to see a house which is on the market for £140k. My husband wants to offer £110k because it's been on the market about a year and the guy is keen to sell. I think this is too low and a bit cheeky. I think starting at £120k is more realistic. AIBU or is he?

I just read this thread, and thought the vast majority of posters are not living in London.

Here we have had initial offers that were over the asking price rejected.

Congratulations OP! Smile

we are in SE London and several weeks ago had our offer accepted about 5% below asking price (sellers decided they didn't really want to sell shortly after though)

There is so much stuff that has been on the market for a few months, reductions have been made but don't seem to be shifting.

It feels like we have viewed almost everything that is out there!

turquoise I bet 'don't want to sell' was code for they were taking it off the market, to then put it back on and hope for a higher price. Places only seem to go for over asking price here.

Oh yes absolutely!

I am stalking Rightmove with my eye out for it to come back on to the market.

Honestly, round here it is all reductions & things hanging around for several weeks or more.

Where in London are you (if that's not too revealing)?

Yay, congratulations!

When I bought my house. It was on the market for £142 first day it was on the market I looked at it and offered £120 they said no. Second viewing (had been on the market 3 days) offer end £132 they said yes. Make a cheeky offer the worst they can say is no!!
