Things that close family members do that aggravate you but for no good reason (lighthearted)

Mine is my mum. I do love her dearly but the one thing that irritates me is the half inch of tea left in a cup. I know her reasoning - back in the day, when tea was made from tea leaves, if you finished the drink, you would get a mouthful of groggy tea leaf sediment.

However, its 2016 and (as a non tea drinker) I would go on oath to state my tea has no grubby leaves at the bottom (I use a bag). Why it annoys me, I have no idea......but finish your bloody drink!

In my defense, I've never raised he subject, just walked away with the cup inwardly seething.

Any other stories of mid annoyances?

Whenever one of the kids burps MIL says "oooohhh paaaarrrden" in a really silly voice. Drives me batshit!

When my 40yo SIL talks in a little girl voice. Bleurgh!! 😡

My step dad never sends a text, he always rings, and its so annoying because if I don't pick up or have signal.on my mobile, he just keeps trying. I wish he would just text me because I always think something serious has happened when he rings, and he's asking me what crisps he should bring to a party or something!!

My dsis leaves a trail of hay everywhere, like a horsey Hansel and/or Gretel.

My mum questioning absolutely fucking everything: 'have you got a nappy in the bag for the baby?', 'have you given him some water?', 'don't forget his shoes!' - I do look after the baby alone 90% of the time, I do know what I'm doing!! - 'what are you reading?', 'Where is your top from?', 'do you like quiche?'...
My dad's ability to make anyone feel like crap with just a few choice words (very nice most of the time but this trait is horrible).

Am staying with them at the moment!

When I lived with my mum she used to start nodding off in front of the tv at about 10:00 but refuse to go to be until 11:15. If you're tired just go to bloody bed!!!! I have it on good authority from my cousin that my auntie (dm's sister) does exactly the same. It used to drive my cousin bananas too.

I feel far more normal normal now. Thank you.

If I mention I am thinking of going away somewhere to a place my Mother has been, she will bombard me with texts about things to do, the price of buses, the fact you can use Tesco vouchers to get money off. She will send me, via my sister, brochures, leaflets and free maps she has kept. She won't give up until I go. I know she is being helpful but aaarg information overload and my trip isn't even definite.

My mum bringing a HUGE bag of 'stuff' for my DSes every time we meet. She's amazing but I'm like 'I got this; i do it every day'.

My DB thinks it's totally acceptable to wipe his mouth on a tea towel!!!!

Mum's endless cups of tea/coffee. Every two minutes when I visit she offers a cup, and seems surprised when I say I dont want one, having just literally drunk a cup.

A close relative, every single bl**dy day leaves crumbs from the Weetabix box on the counter top.
Every Single Day despite me pointing it out to them and asking them to clear the crumbs . They don't
I'm heart scalded from it.

My Mum insists on adding the milk first when making tea.

I'm thinking of going NC with her over it.

Whenever I bend, crouch or sit down in front of DH so that my head is level with his waist he says, "While you're down there..." Every. Fucking. Time.

It wasn't all that amusing the first few thousand times, but we've been married 30 years this October and he's still saying it...

My mum swallows drinks ( almost certainly tea) much much much too loudly. It's making me feel aggressive towards her just thinking about it now!

my dh uses random knives for things so he butters his toast with a long serrated bread knife & cuts bread with a non serrated knife so it's all squashed. Drives me insane & he insists on buying unsliced bread. He also boils enough pasta for 3 people in a milk pan. It's all sticking out the top & he mixes pasta shapes just to use them up. I'm getting irritated just thinking about it!

Mum gulps her coffee like she is stranded in the desert bugs my brain

My DH never changes the channel by just punching in the numbers, he has to open the tv guide, scroll down to the channel and then select it. Bugs the life out of me as it takes about a minute instead of a few seconds. It stems from when we had a duff sky tv remote several years ago and couldn't replace it straight away , but it's been working fine for YEARS now!

Paddypants are you my daughter? I do that all the time. I irritate myself.

My husband breathes......loudly

When the kids were in nappies my Mum would take one off to change them and go 'oh Kali, her urine smells very strong.'

Baffled by what I was meant to do with that information to this day.

I'm from a family of loud eaters as well. Makes me want to rip their teeth out! Apparently there is a term for people with an aversion to loud eating.

Hahaha Lambbone! Maybe I am. There's no point me asking you to stop, you've been doing it for at least 20 years if you're my mum. Bless her, she's an absolute gem my mum.

My mum points out the obvious, she has a labrador and if we are out somewhere and we see a labrador she will say oh look there's a dog just like mine. After about the 1000000 th time it's bloody annoying!
