Using my address?!

Got home today to a letter, too see my maiden name on it, open it and realise it was a letter addressed to my COUSIN for her car insurance and how she's renewed it at my address.
I was not told about this, and when I contacted her she told me " it's £15 per month cheaper at your address and too stop moaning"
I doubt if I had got that letter I would of had no clue her car was insured at my address
AIBU to be absolutley annoyed and WWYD about this situation?

It's fraud and if the insurer finds out she won't be insured.

Risky move for her... If she needs to claim it'll be invalid. I would tell her to put it right or you'll do so yourself. £15 is a silly amount to take such a risk over.

Tell her it's insurance fraud and you won't cover her arse or give her any paperwork that arrives at your address.
It's quite cheeky and abusive to just use your address without even asking.

Why was it addressed to your maiden name? Do you have the same name? Or did she use yours?

Tell the insurer.
A 'friend' did something similar to me. When I found out, she wasn't a 'friend' any longer.
With documents to your address they might register your house with the land registry (you'll have a fight to get it back) or borrow money... its a serious thing, not just saving £15.

It's insurance fraud and I'd tell her to change it or you'll contact the insurer (and then probably contact them anyway).

I could be wrong about this, but doesn't it also tie you to her financially if she is registering at your address whilst you are living there? I thought it makes a tie for credit ratings? Which means any debts she has could impact you. That would all depend on if a tie is made though.

Lweji ive recently got married and taken on my husbands name. But before I was married we had the same surname as she is from my dads side. I seen my maiden name and just rightly presumed it would be for me!

Had her initial but didn't realise until I opened as I just seen my maiden name as I was the only one in the household with that name!

She's invalidating her insurance and therefore technically isn't insured. If she got pulled over for any reason, even if she wasn't committing a crime, she would have her license checked against both the registered address of vehicle and the address listed on insurance.

She could be subsequently convicted of driving without insurance because the quickest of checks would show the discrepancy.

She's an utter tool.

Part of me is thinking leave it because I can't be bothered with the drama and then another part me wants to act, because I can't get over the cheek of it.

If she's done this, then her car is also registered at your address.

There are a lot of not good implications for you and I would not accept it.

LurkingHusband That's fronting drivers though, not just lying about address. Still fraud of course, but less serious than driver "fronting"
