Doctor friend just described their job as looking after 'demented old people'... Feel a bit hmm about this!! Normally v nice but don't know her that well yet!

Working in elderly care, black humour is sometimes a survival strategy for what can be quite a draining job. My DM also used to work in a residential home and said that she never wrote her Christmas cards until Christmas Eve. I was shocked at the time. I can understand it now.
I was complaining to the care manager last week (after three clients that I'd looked after had died in a week) that I was going to forget my apron and have a black cloak and scythe.
