To ask what your essential every day make-up products are

I've never done anything with my eyebrows (except pluck/wax) until Monday this week when I decided to try a tinted eyebrow gel. I 've been using it every day since and can't believe the difference it makes (my eyebrows are very light). I feel I've been missing out for years! My daily make up routine is very basic and consists of moisturiser, light foundation, mascara and a bit of blusher. So, I want to know, what other products have I been 'missing out on'? Grin

I don't wear makeup and don't have an opinion on others that do. Unless it was the woman walking through the shopping centre a couple of weekends ago who had badly drawn sausages where her contour should have been. She had even drawn around them in what looked like black sharpie pen. I wanted to take a photo but dd said I was being embarrassing and people were looking as I tried to hide behind a counter to get a good shot

jelly10 · 05/08/2016 07:30

What's tube mascara???

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 05/08/2016 07:38

I always wear make up unless I'm at home for the day-

Max factor foundation
Bourjois under eye concealer
Lily Lolo powder
Lip gloss
Aldi grey eyeliner
Loreal nude eyeshadow
No 7 mascara

MammyV · 05/08/2016 07:40

I was always buying the wrong colour foundation so went to Boots and the lady zapped me with a machine and told me the exact colour to buy, and it's perfect! No7 foundation and concealer, but of bronzer, mascara and that's it ...done ..with added benefit of not looking tangoedSmile

Brummiegirl15 · 05/08/2016 07:57

I keep seeing Benefits Gimme Brow - am intrigued by it, is it any good?

soyvanillalatte · 05/08/2016 07:59

jelly10 tube/tubing mascara is a mascara that kind of coats the lashes with tubes (looks like normal mascara) rather than being painted on pigment. It is fantastic for people with sensitive, leaky eyes and for chronic eye rubbers (like me).
I haven't been able to wear mascara for many years as , whether heavy duty smudge or waterproof, I have always has smudges, runs and my mascara creeping under my eyes.
This is the first time in SO long that I can wear it and I'm so happy. All day, no "creep", no smudge, no runs.
Understand different strokes for different folks but it's been such a find for me.

scarednoob · 05/08/2016 08:08

Benefit's benetint. It's amazing. I have no idea how I ever used powder blusher!

SparklesandBangs · 05/08/2016 08:09

A quick brush of BareMinerals Original Foundation
Neutral eyeshadow, a bit of quickliner under the eyes.
Quick go over with Clinique naturally glossy mascara and a bit of lip balm and I'm ready to face the day.

scarednoob · 05/08/2016 08:09

Also YSL mascara in the gold tube. Best mascara ever, and I've tried them ALL!! :)

jelly10 · 05/08/2016 08:55

Thanks Soy, I'll have to try it as I always end up with panda eyes! Would you recommend a particular brand?

ChocolateButton15 · 05/08/2016 09:03

Estee lauder primer
Estee lauder double wear
Double wear concealer
Collection blush stick
Rimmel blush powder
Highlighter
Revlon Mascara
Rimmel khol eyeliner
Rimmel eyebrow pencil
Clinique chubby stick intense lip crayon

I recommend chubby stick intense if your not used to lipstick. It's like a crayon and you can't feel it on your lips as its really light but stays on really well and the intense ones have good colour

lollipop28 · 05/08/2016 09:13

Gimme brow = amazing!

lollipop28 · 05/08/2016 09:14

Clarins everlasting foundation and powder
Benefit gimme brow
Depending on time mascara and eyeliner by urban decay.

soyvanillalatte · 05/08/2016 09:17

jelly I have the L'Oreal double extension but haven't tried the others yet

TheWernethWife · 05/08/2016 09:25

FFS - some sneery posts on here. If you don't wear make up then why comment and if you do (like me) share your tips. Like a previous poster, I could never get the hang of matching my foundation so went off to Boots. I always wear Mac lipsticks, they last for ages - have about 8 of them atm.

RestlessT. Haha. She is so right, women who don't wear make up have all the opinions. Even the woman who claimed to have no opinions still felt the need to share a tale about a woman's make up she considered so bad she wanted to take a photo.

Sallystyle · 05/08/2016 09:52

Wow U2 that's a big list

I never used to wear that much and by looking at me no one would think I have that much makeup on. Except maybe my eyes.

I got more into makeup a few months ago and I'm really enjoying it. I have always wore it but I am enjoying playing with new looks etc.

soyvanillalatte · 05/08/2016 10:00

At nearly 51, I am a person who never played with makeup and always wore very "sloane ranger" minimum. Now, I'm playing. Soon enough I wont be able to get away with anything as my skin ages. Unless I want to be one of "those" little old ladies

To ask what your essential every day make-up products are
drain · 05/08/2016 10:11

Serum, sunscreen/moisturiser, primer, mineral foundation, eyebrow powder, blusher, eyeliner, lip stain, lip balm, powder. If going out I add eyeshadow and mascara.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 05/08/2016 10:11

Wrt to the sneery posts- this crops up a lot on make up threads and it's the non wearers who seem to be sneery , the make up wearers don't seem to care one way or the other if some one else chooses to wear make up.

It's like going on to a cooking thread and sneering at the bakers and declaring you only buy shop bought. Very odd Confused

I am a make up addict. My aunt also works for a department store chain and gets massive discounts/freebies which sets me up nicely.

Day to day makeup (work, general out and about)
-YSL Blur primer
-Estee Lauder doublewear in fresco
-Touche Éclat (no. 1)
-Laura Mercier transparent powder
-YSL apricot blush
-Urban Decay illuminated powder
-Urban Decay brow pot (honey brown)
-Dior lip balm (quite pricey for a balm but I really recommend this)

If i'm heading out I normally wear all of the above and add in Urban Decay Naked 3 palette with some YSL liner. Lipstick varies from Mac to Dior but always natural colours.

Makeup really is my guilty pleasure. I spend a lot of time watching tutorials and have amassed boxes of makeup Blush

I really recommend the YSL primer, it is sooo good.

user1467032004 · 05/08/2016 10:16

Forgot to add YSL waterproof mascara! How could I forget!

Hirosleaftunnel · 05/08/2016 10:16

Hourglass primer
Bobbi brown cushion foundation/ or Chanel les beiges foundation

If hot - no primer and Laura mercier tinted moisturiser or Chanel les beiges fluide

Bobbi brown nude powder
Hourglass highlighter edit
Guerlain terracotta bronzer
Tom ford highlighter (the pen one)

Dior backstage eye shadow primer
Dior backstage eyeshadow
Tom ford mascara
Benefit brow gel the new clear one, too old for a heavy brow as it ages me

New clarins lip balm or Clinique chubby stick in Honey

Surprisingly 'no make up' result

Arkwright · 05/08/2016 10:26

I don't wear any make up. I have my brows waxed every 4 weeks and that is all.
