To potentially make DH very ill?

I realise there is a similar themed thread here, must be food hygiene day.

Anyway, I cooked a chicken on Thursday afternoon. Switched the oven off when it was ready and left it in there (one of those cook in the bag ALDI special bad boys).

We went away for the weekend and I totally forgot about it until now.

AIBU to test it on DH to see if it's edible? DH things it probably is, so is sort of consenting. He's also left his bastarding socks on the floor next to the laundry basket again, for me to collect and wash presumably. As such, I feel his life is expendable at the moment.

oh god, I've been so ill before now that for a full day I threw up every time I took a mere sip of water. Never known misery like it. Hoping for the best for your DH- mostly so you don't have to put up with his self inflicted illness!

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered · 01/08/2016 00:24

I don't take any notice of the instructions, I use common sense, smell, visual assessment and finally, taste.

I do have cast iron digestion and stomach.

That chicken would have been straight in the bin.

faceymcfuckface · 01/08/2016 00:26

What a bellend

FellOutOfBed2wice · 01/08/2016 00:33

Blatent place mark to see if he's still alive.

stripeyreds0cks · 01/08/2016 00:33

I want to know what happens and at the same time I don't.
I hope he's okay op but more for your sake than his, numpty

ExtraHotLatteToGo · 01/08/2016 00:43

Oh no update 😣

Brokenbiscuit · 01/08/2016 00:46

OMG, can't believe anyone would be so stupid! Really hope he is ok, OP. Food poisoning is horrendous!

PickledCauliflower · 01/08/2016 01:00

So it's sat in the oven for days - and you leave it out for others to eat?
No - It goes in the bin.
I don't think it's cleaver or amusing to do otherwise. People can actually die from food poisoning.

Shock

Placemarking.

Jeebus-H-Christ.... waaaaaaay to late to save him from food poisoning now, but there are two kinds of bacteria - the kind which lead to food poisoning (and potentially DEATH) which you can't fucking smell or see.... and the kind which lead to the other type of food spoilage, where you can most definitely smell the rot.

What the fuck were either of you thinking??? As I see has already been mentioned in this thread, food needs to be cooled and refrigerated within two hours (preferably 90 minutes) - and this high risk meat has been left sitting in the 'danger zone' temperature wise (where bacteria multiply the fastest) since THURSDAY!!!! OMG , I would not feed this to rats!!!

Sorry, but your DH is a total dick, and will be lucky to survive this!!! As soon as his temperature goes up, he vomits, or has diahorrea, he needs to get to A and E pronto - if by some miracle he actually doesn't get food poisoning, then he is a very, very lucky man.

Should this happen again, please, please bin the weapon of ass destruction, lest you be convicted of manslaughter at the very minimum!!!

ohfourfoxache · 01/08/2016 02:12

Fucking hell Shock

Bogeyface · 01/08/2016 02:47

Well if he does kill himself with his chicken sandwich, at least the OP will have his Darwin Award to remember him by.

I have never actually heard of anyone doing this but I can think of at least 2 people I know who probably would have eaten it. One in particular would react with absolute horror at the thought of throwing away food that wasnt completely covered in mould or maggots. And this is a middle aged man with no money issues, he is just fucking tight.

cantthinkofabloodyname · 01/08/2016 02:56

Place marking shamelessly.

Upthetree100 · 01/08/2016 02:57

Shamelessly place marking

BigGreenOlives · 01/08/2016 03:42

Just waiting to see if OP comes back. I guess he's survived so far.

ICJump · 01/08/2016 04:26

Can't believe someone ate that chicken

TheUnsullied · 01/08/2016 04:31

What a grim thing to do. Even with the guys of an ox, he'll have a very unpleasant case of the runs at minimum. But if he's the kind of person with lax food hygiene standards he may have actually managed to build himself up to cope with grim shit like this.

TheUnsullied · 01/08/2016 04:31

*guts Blush

IggyPopsicle · 01/08/2016 05:16

How very stupid.

Reallyhard · 01/08/2016 05:26

I'm pretty lax about sell by and use by dates for some food, but definitely not chicken. Not a mission I'd have eaten this. Or given it to anyone no matter how much I hated them.

nanetterose · 01/08/2016 05:42

Wow. He ate it?
I really hope he is OK.

CatNip2 · 01/08/2016 06:21

I never place too much importance on use by dates, I look and smell and taste, but THiS? I wouldn't feed it to my cats and they can eat raw chicken.

OnionKnight · 01/08/2016 06:29

Is he still alive?

AllMyBestFriendsAreMetalheads · 01/08/2016 06:30

I'm really quite lax when it comes to food hygiene (in my own home that is, I have certificates for work and things for the public of course!) but I gave myself food poisoning once from some chicken wings I defrosted on the side (I know, I know) and I am still really funny about eating chicken. It wasn't good.

There are plenty of things I'd eat after them being out a while, but not chicken.

Even if he doesn't get really ill, I'd imagine things could get a bit... loose.
