My sister mentioned to me yesterday, in a slightly huffy tone, that I don't put kisses at the end of my text messages. Oh really, I said, I've never really thought about it. Does anyone? Yes they do, she said.

She's right. I checked on my phone and EVERYONE puts kisses on the end of their texts. Except me. Family, friends, work colleagues, even my NDN, on the one occasion when she texted me to ask if she could put some rubbish in my blue bin.

I honestly hadn't noticed. Now I'm aware of it I find I still can't usually be arsed remember. AIBU?

I do with my teen and a couple of very close friends (oh and DH if he hasn't got on my nerves!) but I find it very bizarre when strangers do it - I have sold some old bits and pieces on fb and messages have had kisses from complete strangers. One of my friends who I do put kiss on texts doesn't reciprocate but I don't take offence by it!

What really annoyed me was when a cousin always ended her texts with Winkxx ... so "hope you're OK Winkxx" or "I'll bring pizza Winkxx". She'd set up a signature on her phone to include Winkxx on everything as I presume she thought she was being cute ... but it had the potential to change the meaning of her texts. Somebody must finally have said something to her as she stopped (or she realised when saying something serious that it just wasn't appropriate). Buh!!

It's awkward when I start off not xxxi g in a text, then the recipient signs off xxx so I start adding them and then they stop. It's a bloody minefield!

I do sometimes, oddly the closest ppl to me don't get them. I don't know why.

I can place money on always putting xx at the end of a msg I don't mean to tho.... dd's dad is always an annoying example 'so I assume as you aren't here, you aren't picking dd up tonight? xx' changes the whole tone of the msg and annoys me stupidly, he'll always then xx back and that further annoys me, more than the pathetic ass excuse for whatever it is he hasn't done.

Grrr to x's and the whole should they shouldn't they be there thing!!

duds, I'd finish it in a similar way to finishing a professional email. If I like the person, Best wishes NoBetter or just Best, N. If I don't like the person, or don't know well then, Regards, NoBetter or just NoBetter, possibly just N.

My boss has started doing it while I've been on mat leave so I feel I should respond in kind!
