To just LOVE that DD1 is now old enough to more or less manage her own social life?

Inspired by another thread, I've been thinking about how hard it can be to sort out entertainment for younger kids during holidays from school.

My DD is 12 now and she and her friends sort out their own visits...they come out of school with one another and phone parents to ask "can I go to X's house?"

Or on a Saturday, they just call for one another and go to the shops!

I love it!

I still have a younger DD though...but arranging "playdates" for just one is SO MUCH BETTER!

I should add...DD and friends still need lifts sometimes...but it's so much better than having to drop off, collect, make snacks for little ones!

They cook their own pancakes after a sleepover! They make their own sandwiches! They eat a shit ton of food but THEY MAKE IT!

Nothing unreasonable about that at all Smile.

Older children and summer holidays are fabulous.
