To block upper management on Facebook?

To give some back story I had a very bizzare complaint made against me at work involving social media and it turned out the complaint had no grounds and that I had done nothing wrong but higher management for some reason got involved. A few weeks before this happened I was friend requested on social media by these same members of management but didn't put 2 and 2 together until now.

I have become quite uncomfortable with the idea of people i don't really know from work adding me on social media but didn't want to decline incase it made work awkward, I don't have the time to trawl back over my old posts to see what dirt could be used against me so I have removed and blocked upper management instead. AIBU? Could I get into trouble for this? has anyone experienced anything similar?

My DW is on FB and she refuses point blank to add anyone from work.
She has privacy setting at near maximum so no one can see anything but her profile pic and name.
If people say anything she just says that FB is for her friends and family and work is separate. Some people get snippy but she's doesn't care.

I don't even have a FB account. I had one for about a year but deleted it.
I just don't see the point , too much shit and no real benefits from what I can tell.
