Wagon wheel old crow medicine show such a lovely song I dont know how anyone could dislike it

molyholy · 28/07/2016 00:08

The Boxer by Simon and Garfunkle. Amazing coming of age song and I was brought up on the album Bridge Over Troubled Water. Reminds me of my dad who has since passed. Reminds me of the first band I loved and still do. Reminds me of nights drinking with my siblings and mum and doing karaoke. I knew all the words to Cecelia when I was about 6 and it was my confirmation name as she was the patron saint of music. Little did the priest know it was because I adored Simon and Garfunkle.

TheresADogOnYourBalls · 28/07/2016 00:20

'Tilted' by Christine and the Queens - slightly bizarre French electro pop, but totally addictive
'Runaways' by The Killers - great driving song
'Bring Me To Life' by Evanescence - for singing along to loudly Grin
'Boulevard of Broken Dreams' by Green Day - just because it's great

Ohmrbadger Yes, Song to the siren...., beautiful, moving.

AgentCooper · 28/07/2016 08:31

I listened to Song to the Siren at work this week and burst out crying. Oh dear. It is absolutely beautiful, though.

My most played songs right now are Darkness on the Edge of Town by Bruce Springsteen for when I'm feeling knackered and pissed off with everything - it's really powerful, with a great melody - Upside Down by Diana Ross just because it's fucking great and Gloria by Patti Smith which is so bold and sexy.

captainfarrell · 28/07/2016 08:51

Ah Agent I just did too when I posted that clip.
You just reminded me of another Patti Smith classic, Because the night!

LittleLionMansMummy · 28/07/2016 08:54

One Day Like This by Elbow. Works for any occasion I've found!

bogofeternalstench · 28/07/2016 11:38

Speaking In Tongues - Hilltop Hoods
For when you get disheartened and cross with the horrors and hatred in the world.

Anonymouses · 28/07/2016 11:40

Turbulence by bowling for soup.

Sums up life brilliantly and I listen to it when I need a kick up the arse

dannydyerismydad · 28/07/2016 11:43

Come on Feet by Pete and the Pirates.

Great for bouncing round the kitchen in a carefree manner.

FreckledLeopard · 28/07/2016 11:52

The most beautiful, haunting, makes-the-hairs-stand-up-along-your-spine songs that I'm listening to at the moment are:

House on a Hill - the Pretty Reckless
The Sound of Silence (Simon & Garfunkel. There's also another incredible version of this song by Disturbed).

Babybowser · 28/07/2016 11:54

Articmonkeys do you wanna know love this song atm

Charlesroi · 28/07/2016 12:29

I Say A Little Prayer - the mighty Aretha Franklin
On Her Majesty's Secret Service - Propellerheads

2nds · 28/07/2016 12:32

The Blowers Daughter By Damien Rice, very slow, such a beautiful song.

Autumn leaves by Paolo Nutini, thought provokingly beautiful.

Destinysdaughter · 28/07/2016 12:40

Every single song on the album 'Pala' by Friendly Fires is brilliant IMO! 😀

Destinysdaughter · 28/07/2016 12:48

Ooh this is a slightly unusual one! It's a cover version of the Blower's Daughter by two fantastic Brazilian singers, Seu Jorge and Ana Carolina. Completely changes the mood of the song, I love it, have a listen...
