Deep Cleaning

Cutecat78 · 26/07/2016 18:16

OH is away for a while and he's a real clean freak.

Am seriously considering having a deep clean of the house just before he gets back because quite frankly I cannot be arsed.

Has anyone had this done?

What should I expect and is it bum clenching me expensive?

Or AIBU and should just suck it up and do it myself?

Is it all your responsibility to clean? Can't he give it a deep clean if it bothers him so much?

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 26/07/2016 18:18

I'd get some one in to do the oven, that IS worth it.

Leirope · 26/07/2016 18:19

Placemarking as I'm looking into getting the same - Newborn and a DP who has no concept of tidying up after himself.

Cutecat78 · 26/07/2016 18:19

No - but hardly fair to expect him to come home and clean my/kids dirt when he hasn't been here Smile

Just try and keep on top of it while away.

Shezza71 · 26/07/2016 18:22

I would do exactly the same, phone a couple of places to compare prices and what's on offer. If it's out of your price range find a local cleaning agency and get a couple of cleaners just to do house top to bottom, I do this occasionally and costs £12 per hour. Definitely worth it!!

JustMarriedBecca · 26/07/2016 18:22

We paid £10 an hour for ours in London. I have never wanted to smooch anyone more than the cleaner and carpet guy when I came in. Do it.

katiekrafter · 26/07/2016 18:23

I have a cleaner and tbh it is the best thing I've done. It means the house is cleaned twice during the week from top to bottom and frees me up from being a moaning Minnie/stressed out/ashamed of the dirt. My mental health has improved a lot. It takes a quarter of my income (I work pt in low paid job) but I would cut back on many other things before that. I always said I would never do it...

How many hours would you expect a 3 storey, 4 bed, 2 reception house to take?

Do you get three teens rooms done (minging) rest of house is ok, clean but I don't often dust or pull anything out and clean it - I work F/T (that's my excuse Grin).

We paid 132 for a 3 bed house (all doubles) outside London. We were hosting a party and my baby won't let me get anything done. It was worth it. I'm considering a regular one, especially for my quick-to-grime kitchen and all the floors my baby loves to explore but won't allow me to clean Blush

Cutecat78 · 26/07/2016 18:33

Ooh that's good! Am also outside London ..

With our company it would cost around £200+ for a deep clean of every room, but for regular maintenance cleaning about £60+ but we are mid-priced and there are cheaper and more expensive services out there depending on the service level you are after.

Cutecat78 · 26/07/2016 18:35

Am looking on Groupon too Grin

OP posts:
Shezza71 · 26/07/2016 19:26

Don't do the groupon cleaners. The family I nanny for have a 4 storey, 2 reception, 5 bed, playroom, 3 bathrooms, 2 toilets. 5 hour clean £50

Cutecat78 · 26/07/2016 19:27

Wow - is that North?

OP posts:
Shezza71 · 26/07/2016 19:29

Surrey. House isn't particularly dirty though. If I could afford a once a week clean would definitely do it. Hard to find a good cleaner, so use agency maybe once a month

DanglyEarOrnaments · 26/07/2016 19:32

I don't think a 5 hour clean could be classed as a 'deep clean', we would need a team of two for around 6 hours (ie 12 man hours minimum) to come close to a basic deep clean in a home that size without oven, carpet washing etc, just a domestic deep clean. As for a regular clean that sounds ok for a temp discounted price.
