Oh likes to point out where I'm wasting time which annoys the fuck out of me

Who's right here tho.

You're doing the ironing, you iron each item and put into a pile then after you've done all of it you seperate into piles for the (6) people it belongs to.
Or
You iron each item and put it straight into a pile for each person.

This seems obvious to me Hmm

Yes I realise it's a bit pointless but I want to show him how wrong he is Grin

My dp irons his own work shirts, my clothes are mostly cotton jersey so iron once in a blue moon. DD doesn't care. Only time I have ironed school uniform was to stick in the name labels.

No way I'm wasting 2-3 hours of my week ironing.

NarcyCow · 26/07/2016 15:59

DH irons a tablecloth every christmas eve. Aside from that our iron is completely ignored.

I do make piles when I'm folding the dry washing, though. And each person's pile is layered - all the jammes, all the trouses, all the tops and then the (paired) socks and pants on top. Makes putting things away so straightforward that even DD6 and DS4 can manage their own although DH can't and his clean clothes all live on the floor.

I separate out into each family member as I go along

MrsTerryPratchett · 26/07/2016 16:47

HIBU. Because there's a spate of men on MN telling women how to conduct their servant roles. "Do my shit work and do it the way I tell you to".

Tell him to do his own ironing and if any of the other 4 people are walking and talking, tell them to do theirs too.

one big basket of washing, one DH to go through it all, separate into my pile, his pile, son's pile. son's pile goes in his room for him to deal with, my pants socks non ironable stuff goes in pile on my dresser for me to put away, ironables are ironed by DH and straight onto hangers for me to put away. same with his stuff. saves me hours of time Grin and I quite like doing the actual washing

DelphiniumBlue · 26/07/2016 18:02

Ironing for 6??
But yes, clearly more efficient to have 6 separate piles.

Leaspr · 26/07/2016 18:06

If I fold it all straight from the tumble dryer then I never have to iron! Not saving money when I used it through summer still though!
It's only DD and myself and I separate them straight away and well as a separate towel pile. You are more likely to crease things again if you have to start moving them all about surely!? Separate piles first time! I hardly think that it would make much difference time wise whatever way you choose though! If DH is that bothered then maybe he should be showing you how it is done every week!? Grin

Danglyweed · 26/07/2016 18:34

6 of us here too. DH does the ironing and always sorts it into a pile for each person
