another parking one (sorry) help!?

I'm fuming, I really am. I parked near the station, so I appreciate that people need to catch transport in a hurry, etc. it wasn't the station car park though, so people really cannot assume that they are going to be there all day, I only went shopping with 2 DC. We get back to the car to find this. That car is touching our car, there is no way for me to get out. The back of my car is next to a fence/wall but there's a small gap, but there's no way I can move without that car coming back.

Of course I don't know how long the person will be gone, but we waited near the car for about 20 mins so they weren't just popping into the shop, basically the gap is far too small for the car to fit in.

We are now sitting in Pret having lunch, and probably longer as there is no where for us to go.

Where do I stand with this?? Can I get out??

I'd phone 101. We get calls like this quite often and can be quite successful in tracking down drivers. If you explain you don't need police attendance but can they make contact with the keeper you might be lucky

facepalming · 21/07/2016 12:50

I would try and wriggle put with 30cm. assume you have parking sensors? they usually have margin for error so let them go red / continuous beep for just a sec going very slowly to know your as far as you can. driving so slowly I wouldn't worry to touch the car in front (gently!!!) considering they are already touching you but make sure there is no damage there already so you can be sure you won't get the blame for any!

LunaLoveg00d · 21/07/2016 12:50

If there is 30 cm behind you, you can manoeuvre the car out. It will take a while and lots of turning the wheel, but it is possible. You are choosing not to try though.

The dark coloured car has parked incredibly badly, no getting away from that. But grab help from a passing pedestrian to help guide you when reversing and you can get out.

TheWitTank · 21/07/2016 12:50

Are you sure you cant wiggle it out with a gazillion point turn? I've got out of some incredibly tight spots over the years with an Izuzu Trooper Duty which is pretty big. Might take some time and bumper nudging. Bloody inconsiderate though.

MyMurphy · 21/07/2016 12:51

Can you ask somebody to watch you as you get out, a passer by?

redheadmamma · 21/07/2016 12:53

Is your number plate set at an angle or has their bumper pushed it down? I would be fuming!

FuriousFate · 21/07/2016 12:54

Call 101 and report them. What a selfish thing to do!

Ask a passer by to help you try and get out?

Name and shame on local FB page?

AliceInUnderpants · 21/07/2016 12:55

You could probably inch out with 30cms room behind.

Next time, make sure and leave more space behind you.

thisisafakename · 21/07/2016 12:55

wow, what twats. I agree that I would call 101 to see if they can come and tow it. You can try to get out but agree that with only a foot room, it seems unlikely. Do you have lots of stuff on today? I would be temped to wait and angrily confront the bastard.

Jackiebrambles · 21/07/2016 12:58

What a twat.

I'd defintely be attempting a million wheel turns to try to inch it out. But if not it sounds like 101 are the people to call. How stressful with the children with you as well!!

TheImprobableGirl · 21/07/2016 12:58

I think it looks like they've bumped your number plate too op Confused

JinRamen · 21/07/2016 12:59

Shock I would be wondering if they hit the front of my car to get that close!

FlyingElbows · 21/07/2016 12:59

Phone 101
Phone the council
Check if the handbrake is off on the other car. If so use yours to shove it forward if there is room to do so safely.
Don't move your own car back without checking the handbrake on the other one first.

Unicorntrainer · 21/07/2016 13:03

How the hell did they get in there (openly admit I haven't done a parallel park since my test). Get yourself calm, and see if somebody (preferably police or traffic warden) will help you with the gazillion point turn. Hope your DCs are ok. What a complete twat!

NoFuchsGiven · 21/07/2016 13:05

WTF! Selfish pricks. I would be phoning 101.

TipBoov · 21/07/2016 13:09

I'd be so annoyed! Yes phone 101 for some advice - they may be able to trace the driver or tow.

chocolateworshipper · 21/07/2016 13:36

Phone 101.
Phone local newspaper - they'll jolly well love it.
Good luck!

MoonfaceAndSilky · 21/07/2016 13:40

OMG! Love a parking thread.
I would be fuming. Definitely name and shame - post photos (with number plate showing) everywhere including on the bloody windscreen of Mr/Ms Selfishtwatface's car! And yes local paper too.

SouperSal · 21/07/2016 13:43

We used to park like this deliberately at school. (Local residents didn't like anyone parking in their street - this way only 2 number plates were visible. Grin)

I agree that with a bit of effort you should be able to get out of there. But also worth calling 101 too.

Phillipa12 · 21/07/2016 13:50

Seeing as you look like your touching could you not try nudging forward gently to see if that moves the car a bit for you, looks like the only contact is the number plates so wouldnt cause any scratches and dents and you are in the bigger car. Otherwise report to 101, they are clearly dicks, oh and if you do get it out photo your car before the manouvere and after and photograph the other car too just incase dick features tries to claim that you have damaged his car with an insurance claim against you!

Molecule · 21/07/2016 13:58

From my very rough calculations the diagonal dimension for the car will be its length plus just over one foot, or 30cm, so really it is unlikely to come out of the space no matter how many points you turn. So I'd really not bother trying, and the parking sensors will already be on the one continual beep so will be of no help.

pussinasda · 21/07/2016 14:01

put them on
you park like a cunt .com
good luck , hope you have got it sorted
