Not sure why a one year old wouldn't have a nappy on as she clearly is not Notts trained at that age my one year old would be become destressed to be constantly wet

And what's the no medication about surely social service would become involved if they got very ill and parents did noting

Very odd

This may have already been discussed but....how do they know the oldest (sorry can''t bring myself to refer to his poncy 'aren't we trendy middle class can't call him Harry' real name) had scarlet fever, without seeing a doctor or nurse?

They probably held a piece of topaz above his head, in line with his chakras and whence it turned three times widdershins- bingo! Then they 'cured' it by letting the dog lick his face.

SouperSal · 24/07/2016 19:52

Does anything else give the tell tale "strawberry tongue" that scarlet fever does?

or they may just be lying, as per the asthma

Cagliostro · 24/07/2016 21:05

Crikey london Shock 5 hours?

Ooh Souper why do you think they are lying re: asthma? [intrigued]

I'm now going to have to google Lacey Spears and Widdershins (not in the same sentence though)

Cagliostro · 24/07/2016 21:07

I googled Spears :( awful

SouperSal · 24/07/2016 21:09

One of the articles said they'd taken the boy to hospital during an asthma attack.

VanellopeVonSchweetz99 · 24/07/2016 22:21

Just to clarify I'd never suggest the family in question are murderous maniacs, it's just Lacey Spears is the original dysfunctional & crunchy parent and Adele's manic megawatt smile + diy haircut + smugness just made me think if her.

Cagliostro · 24/07/2016 23:39

Ah I see Vanellope (cool name BTW!)

Souper I saw that bit, was wondering what you thought they'd lied about (the asthma or the going to hospital) :)

LalaLeona · 25/07/2016 10:45

Bloody hell. Adele was super annoying but comparing her to a child killer is a bit harsh!

Philoslothy · 25/07/2016 13:02

Comparing a loving parent to a child killer is bang out of order

Philoslothy · 25/07/2016 13:03

I do hope they are not reading this.

bloodyteenagers · 25/07/2016 14:44

Just come across another one of their funds. He wants 50k for a website where he can be your, not actually sure. Seems these two don't learn. It's the second time he's tried to get cash this way..

SouperSal · 25/07/2016 14:52

That's already been mentioned on the thread. It's part of the MLM scheme to get to Costa Rica.

bloodyteenagers · 25/07/2016 15:06

Ah I must have missed a page. Knew the 100k had been mentioned, didn't see anything about the 50k

An article that may help those who think children are better off away from their parents at the young age of 4/5 understand why some of us aren't wishing to let them go yet. habitfixer.com/2010/07/are-children-missing-out-by-going-to-school/.

MissHooliesCardigan · 25/07/2016 17:59

RedLarva I said way back on this thread that I've completely changed my views on HE due to Mumsnet and an much more open to the idea. But I think that article is complete tripe.
It certainly isn't how I remember school 40 odd years ago. The implication of that article is that HE is the best option for all children and that sending them to school before age 7 is cruel.
On a practical level, the majority of families need 2 wages so HE simply isn't an option for most parents. Therefore posting that sort of thing serves no purpose other than to guilt trip parents.
If I tried to HE DS2, it would be a disaster. We would spend the whole time at each other's throats. He is literally the most extrovert child I've ever met - the bigger the crowd of people around him the better.
All that talk of herding sheep is bollocks. I totally get that school isn't right for all children but most children thrive in school - as do most who are educated at home.
And all this wrenching babes from their mother's arms stuff, come on.
You make it sound like they get thrown through the school gates aged 5 never to see their families again.
Children get 173 days a year at school. By my calculations, they spend around 14% of their time there. That leaves plenty of time to be with their family.
And all my children have a very strong sense of self, thanks very much.

I'm lucky I guess in that my kids love school and their confidence has improved by going, they've made strong friendships as well as learning loads. i'm trained as a primary teacher but would never have the patience to HE (the children agree, we've talked about it before and we all agree it would be a terrible idea!) We do however enjoy out time off together. Article sounds like my friend going on about school being a 'prison'- I know maybe all schools aren't as lovely as my local primary which is idyllic (I know, I volunteer in my children's classes and listen to readers) but I'm so glad mine have the opportunities they get from their school.

MissHooliesCardigan · 25/07/2016 20:02

Thanks Souper it's uncomfortable having your firmly held views challenged but I have heard so many eloquent posters talking about Home Ed and answering every one of the reservations I had about it. I've gone from thinking that it's all about weirdos wanting total control of their children to thinking that I would have loved to have done it, at least for a while, with DS1 (but not the other 2). And then I read something stupid like that which just re-ignites all my prejudices.
