From the blog "Autism: A complex condition often triggered by heavy metal poisoning from the mercury in dental fillings and/or the mercury added to vaccinations. A heavy metal detox under guidance of a qualified practitioner is paramount to healing the body from mercury poisoning. A natural and safe combination for children to take combines coriander/cilantro herb with the algae called Chlorella."
. I've read through this thread and noticed some posts already referring to this but still can't quite believe it. I am diagnosed with ASD. I was born like this, as were other members of my family. Sometimes ASD can affect people's lives terribly but I'm happy as I am and don't consider myself to be impaired by mercury fillings. I'm surprised at how uninformed they seem to be. Have they never heard of neurodiversity? And as for the ideas about cancer etc, it's hard to forgive someone publicising those beliefs.
A lot of this seems like something that was new and exciting in the 1990s. That's when I did extended breastfeeding, lived off-grid (without mains electricity or water), grew my own food organically and home educated my children. We lived like this for 6 years and the children, now grown up, had a great time. But we've also made use of mainstream education and healthcare and had great experiences with both.
It worries me when things like this are presented as a "movement". Surely to look after your children well you need to be ready to learn and adapt, changing your plans as necessary. It seems like they are expecting to find a perfect solution to life; that it's simple; that we'll all be happy as long as we don't vaccinate/grow our own food etc, which unfortunately is bullshit.
I think they're well-intentioned, and there's nothing wrong with people leading different ways of life and the kids look happy, but they are promoting their ideas as a style of living and ideas can be very dangerous.
Having done something a bit similar, I hope they don't move to Costa Rica, but just stay in the UK. It will be much easier for them to start growing their own food in an environment they're used to, and it will be easier for the kids to rebel/for them to make changes.
As for not needing assistance when giving birth - well, I'd be dead and so would one of my children if it wasn't for modern medicine.
Sorry about rambling
