before wading in?

Am I?

Or is it perfectly reasonable to want to bang my head against the desk?

I know people haven't got the time or inclination to read 8 pages of stuff, but your answer that you have spent time and care crafting and typing (yeah, right) is a pretty pointless waste of time if the OP has admitted they're wrong, or they've added loads of new info or the thread has moved completely sideways.

I know forums have always been like this, but the MN facility to highlight your own and the OP's posts does help. And I do feel sorry for some when they're getting a total kicking when they have actually had the grace to take opinions on board and admit they're wrong.

Just spare a couple of moments to catch up in future, would you please? Ta.

My posts are not for other people but in response to the OP who asked the question i am giving my opinion on.

Even if she's come back and changed her mind/attitude/outlook? So you're therefore not speaking to the current conversation?

Pointless.

Lol at anyone being in a lather. Grin Grin

LyndaNotLinda · 16/07/2016 17:55

If I were the OP, I'd think you were boring and irrelevant too thebestfur :)

MovingOnUpMovingOnOut · 16/07/2016 18:19

I think thebestfurchincilla has confused what Mumsnet with a comment site where people respond to an article or post rather than engage in discussion.

The whole point, thebestfurchincilla, is that this is conversation. Why do you think we have a whole board called _chat? And why do you think we're all doing it wrong when you turn up and do the equivalent of shouting your comment in the door of a crowded pub five hours after someone at the bar said "so what do you think about..?"? Confused

green18 · 16/07/2016 18:57

Actually on AIBU I think it's just a case of answering OPs question, not a chat or conversation at all.

I disagree. Often other posters will raise a point that others respond to.

But I'd be happy if the OP's questions were answered!

CBA to RTFT as I have a life outside MN.

Oooh look at you, you're special.

maggiethemagpie · 16/07/2016 19:43

NRTFT but YABU. I have better things to do than RTFT sometimes.

Sparklingbrook · 16/07/2016 19:50

If you have better things to do than RTFT why log on to MN at all? Confused

Passmethecrisps · 16/07/2016 19:59

It's all gone s bit acronym crazy!

MovingOnUpMovingOnOut · 16/07/2016 20:27

I never eat the food in restaurants because I have better things to do.

I never watch the show at the theatre because I have better things to do.

I never read a whole book because I have better things to do.

^^ All the same as ploughing in to a conversation without having read the thread. Posting is not compulsory. If you can't be bothered to even skim a thread why do you think your contribution is of such importance that you must post it?

dodobookends · 16/07/2016 20:29

I have just RTFT.

Can't think of anything remotely witty useful to add though Grin

captainfarrell · 16/07/2016 22:02

No not lathering at all Hmm

JassyRadlett · 16/07/2016 22:36

I answer the OP. it's what I expect others to do when i start a thread. Have no time to read pages of stuff. Not arrogance just not that important to me. If that offends some of you, then don't use MN.

I want to have this framed with the title 'Irony'. 😂😂😂

Honestly, folks, you're too busy/lazy/important to read the thread and get a feel where the discussion is? Why post, then?

I quite like the ones who admit they've not RTFT, though. I like it when people identify themselves as lazy, rude or arrogant, it saves so much time.

JudyCoolibar · 16/07/2016 23:00

I hate the ones that pile in with something like:

OP: AIBU?
Whole of Mumsnet: YABU
OP: No I'm not

  • when the reality is that the whole of MN isn't saying YABU and actually opinion is divided or is in OP's favour. If you're going to give the OP that sort of kicking, you really must actually read the thread or you'll look seriously stupid.
