AIBU to panic about DP's issue down there?

Sorry in advance for TMI.

DP has burning sensation while peeing and white discharge

He's been asked by GP to go to a sexual health clinic just to make sure.

We've been together 3 months and we did have see without a condom back when I was on the pill.

We have also had regular unprotected oral sex

He is my first sexual partner so unlikely that I gave him something.

But I'm scared for myself Sad

I have no symptoms but I'm worried I could get an STI if he has it too

Go and get checked too?

RubbleBubble00 · 14/07/2016 16:29

I would go with him to gum clinic and get yourself checked too. Just incase

DerelictMyBalls · 14/07/2016 16:30

Yes, you definitely need to get checked out, too. Don't worry, the STI clinic staff are very businesslike and have seen everything before.

Birdsgottafly · 14/07/2016 16:30

It could be a UTI, so no need to panic.

This is all new to you, so it's a bit of a shock, to have possibly picked something up.

gamerchick · 14/07/2016 16:32

I agree you need to go for a screen as well.

They're very nice there and will make you as comfortable as possible.

WorraLiberty · 14/07/2016 16:36

You need to get checked too.

But it could be nothing.

My Ex-H always suffered from that (since he was about 17 and he's 56 now), but it's just high acid or something...I can't actually remember but when it got bad, he just had to drink lots of fluid.

IsThisEmette · 14/07/2016 16:36

I will definitely go for a screen as well but I can't go before Saturday.

I'm going to go crazy worrying I have something sinister until then

Might be something as innocent as cystitis (Yes - blokes can get it, too), or it might be something nastier. Both of you really need to get checked. Hopefully it will be nothing to worry about, but if not, the easier you get treatment the better. Don't risk your health or your fertility by being shy.

IsThisEmette · 14/07/2016 16:58

I'm not shy or scared to go to a clinic.

I just can't go there immediately and it will be next week before I get my results if they test me Saturday

So I just wanted some options on how bad this could be

LBOCS2 · 14/07/2016 17:01

Doesn't sound like the 'bad' (ie, incurable) STIs - if it is one it's most likely to be chlamidya or gonorrhoea. Both of which are treatable with a hefty dose of antibiotics and tend to only cause long term problems if left untreated for a while. Could also just be a UTI or fungal infection. You won't know until you've been tested.

FlibbertigibbetArmadillo · 14/07/2016 17:16

Could also be thrush. No need to panic just yet.

Get checked.

I'd also question why you're having unprotected sex with someone whose background you don't appear to know very well?

idontlikealdi · 14/07/2016 17:34

I would get yourself to the clinic pronto too. Hope all is ok.

Helenluvsrob · 14/07/2016 17:42

Deep breath, don't panic and both get tested. It's really no biggie. You may well be able to order an online test , this is our local

umbrellahealth.co.uk/

But you may have similar.

No sex and no blaming /shaming/rows till you know there is something to worry about OK?

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 14/07/2016 17:49

Most people get an STI at some point (even if they won't admit it

Obviously lots of people do, but ' most?'

Try not to panic OP , best luck.

You really have no idea if that's true, Bengal. Dame could have had sex with only one partner, who was a virgin when they met. Or she could be a virgin. Or she could have been very careful with barrier contraception.

So it's a UTI- he went to the clinic today.

But they've also sent his urine samples for testing for chlamydia and gonorrhoea
Fingers crossed he doesn't have either

limitedperiodonly · 15/07/2016 11:44

It's best if you go ahead with the test you've planned for yourself because then you'll know for sure and if you need any treatment you can have it.
