AIBU to want to spend my birthday alone?

I have the day booked off work, a Waitrose order scheduled with all my favourite foods, snacks and a decent bottle of champagne and I don't intend to leave the house all day. A long soak in the bath and lots of TV shows to catch up on is about the extent of my plans.

Some friends and family think this is a bit peculiar but it's my birthday so I can do as I please, right?

Sounds wonderful. Its possible to do things like that at Christmas, too.

QuimReaper · 12/07/2016 22:08

Sounds absolutely dreamy!

KatieKaboom · 12/07/2016 22:08

That sounds indescribably wonderful.

ATruthUniversallyAcknowledged · 12/07/2016 22:10

Great idea. It's nine next week. I may book myself a night in a hotel alone.

HermioneJeanGranger · 12/07/2016 22:10

I'm jealous! That sounds heavenly.

Jaimx86 · 12/07/2016 22:20

Sounds perfect!

JanetStWalker · 12/07/2016 22:30

Please remind me of this if it all goes tits up and I end up here pissed posting and maudlin by 8pm Grin

timelytess, I have done the odd Christmas holed up alone, it was rather nice in a way but I did end up feeling a bit isolated after a couple of days, at least birthdays are literally just a day.

That sounds marvellously decadent, do it!

I did just that this year.

It was a Saturday. I had lunch at a place of my choosing. Had a gel manicure. Had ice cream in the afternoon. Then finally met up with a friend in the evening for cocktails.

gamerchick · 12/07/2016 22:34

Sounds like bliss to me. Enjoy man, I love to book a day just to love myself. It's very relaxing Grin

Mycraneisfixed · 12/07/2016 22:36

Sounds magicSmile

Mycraneisfixed · 12/07/2016 22:37

Meant to add, I'd love to do this but DC and DGC can't imagine I'd want to do anything but celebrate with them all on my birthday. I love them to bits but...

crayfish · 12/07/2016 22:40

That sounds perfect!! I bet loads of people are secretly jealous.

QuimReaper · 12/07/2016 22:40

On my birthday I went for lunch and to the cinema by myself before meeting DP and a friend for dinner. The friend was free to come but she wasn't invited! Grin

MrsDoylesTeaParty · 12/07/2016 22:41

Why would anyone think that's peculiar? It sounds like heaven! Your birthday is all for you.

JanetStWalker · 12/07/2016 23:06

Oh Quim, the cinema! Yesss, I could go and see Ab Fab, assuming I can be arsed to get dressed Grin

I am SO doing this next year!!

DC2 is still BF'ing but hopefully in 11 months she'll be weaned. My birthday next year is on a Saturday though so I shall be checking into a hotel I think!!
