Colleague sat opposite me sprays her deodrant/body spray about once ever hour. It is really strong to the point I can taste it. I ask her to stop and she ignores me so I told her last week to stop it or I WILL shive the aerosol up her arse. She laughed and said sorry. She then continue to do it. More people complain. She has done it again.

Every lunch time she paints her nails - the smell is giving me a headache. Everytime I ask her to do it somewhere else she says sorry ok.

She is not crunching on a lolly and sicking it loudly. I am losing the fucking will to live.

AIBU to make a formal complaint? Or put a really passive agressive sign by her desl regarding strong scents in the office

Get your own back with something incredibly pungent. How about fish & chips with copious amounts of vinegar? That smell really gets to me.

If she needs to spray deodorant she should do it in the loos and I can see no need for her to be doing her nails at work at all.

OP, just complain to your line manager, hr, boss etc etc. And you really shouldn't be telling your colleague that you'll shove the aerosol up her arse.

Did you actually tell your colleague you would shove it up her arse? If you complain she will probably do so too.
You should have got HR or her boss to deal with this before you were rude to her.

Aerosols are banned in my school because of the risk to people with asthma.

No I didn't tell her I would shove it up her arse. But I did say I would take it from her desk and bin it. Its constant. In fact I have been working here for 4 years and she has always been the same. I have never worked this close to her before so guess it is really annoying me.

If she does it again - which I know she will. I am going to tell her thats her final chance and next time I WILL make a formal complaint.

What's wrong with her? That is not normal behaviour? And painting nails in work time? How does she get away with this?!

Think about the words you are going to say to her when she does it again. If this is looking likely to get to the complaint stage, you need to make sure you are being polite, don't say something you might regret. Easier said than done, I know.

I had an asthma attack when a colleague did that once. Spraying at your desk was banned after that.

Def go to HR - you've made attempts already to reason with her and she has persisted. I'm sure there will be some kind of Health and Safety legislation regarding your working environment? At a minimum she should not be attending to her personal hygiene at her desk. Could you ask to move desks if she persists?

Report. Spraying deodorant and painting nails are absolutely not on in an office. Get support from colleagues if you can.

Maybe after giving your polite Final Chance speech, take a photo every time she does it, and blatantly make a note of the time and the product.

Though personally I would make the complaint first, and then start making the obvious record. Unfortunately it is often important to get your complaint in before the other person's complaint.
