To think it's not safe for a 5yo to be on a jet ski?

I think what happened to Kirsty MacColl put the heeby jeebies up me when it comes to jet skis. They're kind of unsafe, no?

Having done a fair amount of jetski-ing in the past (step grandad owns one), I wouldn't feel 100% comfortable a 5 year old on one, but it does depend on how far out into the sea/lake it's going. My younger brother had an accident on a jet ski when he was about 8/9 where it capsized and although accidents like they are probably rare that's freaked me out enough to think that children and jet skis probably aren't a good combination.
