To hate newborn photoshoot pictures?

So I don't know if it's just me but a lot of people on my FB feed have been posting their newborn photoshoot pics recently and I bloody hate them.

The babies are always squished into an elaborate outfit or stark naked on a rug and rolled into a little ball and then photoshopped so they look like dolls with terrifyingly googly eyes or creepy porcelain skin.
I can't abide them. Is this just me being a bit of a misery guts or does it irritate everyone else too?

Give me a cheeky home snap of a snuggly baby in a onsie any day.

I've seen photos where the baby is trussed up in gauze and looks like a mummy.
Also in the camp of what is the point of headbands on a baby. I was bald for ages as a baby, I'd've looked stupid in a headband. Isn't the whole point of them to hold back hair??

I am a huge anti-fan of headbands on babies. I think they all look stupid.

I've had a patient refuse a visit from the midwife (and they really needed one. Like REALLY), as they'd booked a photo shoot in London and didn't want to back out.

I think my jaw hit the floor.

I'm anti headbands too but our photographer brought some out for dd's shoot. He was just trying a few different things out really. I have to say they look lovely even though I wouldn't use headbands at home.

There are hardly any photos of me as a newborn and I really wish there were.

As far as I can see, the whole point of them is to scream 'IT'S A GIRL, OK???? BALD, SMALL AND NEUTRAL-LOOKING, BUT DEFINITELY A GIRL!!! LOOK, A PINK TUTU AND A GIANT FLORAL HEADBAND TO HOLD BACK THE TUMBLING LOCKS SHE WILL SOME DAY HAVE!!'

This is very timely- this popped up on my Facebook today and I read it with tears streaming down my face!

I thought the fellow newborn shoot haters on this thread might enjoy it! 😂

I'm torn.
Never had any done myself as not a fan of staged photos and had a camera at home, just took snaps of the kids all the time. I have a huge panoramic frame up in my kitchen that's 3 metres long filled with hundreds of pictures of them over the years. I'm sure some people would find that naff, but friends and family who come round spend time looking and smiling at the pics. It's for our benefit as they're up in our home, for us to see and enjoy.
I'm not a Facebook over sharer of photos of the DC at all.

But newborns are lovely, imperfections from birth and all. I can't get worked up over pfb parents getting excited and having professions pics taken. Although I don't really need to see them splashed on fb, i tend to look at one or two, like or comment on their lovely baby and then move on.

I am far more judgy on those family shoots with everyone in jeans and white tshirts and BARE FEET Shock
