AIBU for wondering why the Labour MPs who object to Corbyn so much don't just become Lib Dem MPs instead?

They tend to be the centrists so surely the Lib Dem agenda would be much more in line with their thinking, rather than trying to oust Corbyn who has so much left-wing support.

Am I being too simplistic or proposing an actually extremely smart solution?

I've always thought that a party from the right of labour & left of the tories would be a vote winner. Should be the gap filled by the LibDems but, I think they're a vacuous waste of space

I don't know how old you are, but in the early 80s, some centrist Labour politicians (led by the 'Gang of Four', David Owen, Shirley Williams, Roy Jenkins and Bill Rodgers) formed the Social Democratic Party. They formed an electoral alliance with the Liberal Party and later merged with them, eventually becoming the LibDems.

So it has sort of already been tried, and nobody wanted to vote for them then either.
