Awkwardas · 01/07/2016 17:06

You lose weight you've been on a 'journey' you have counselling it was a tough 'journey' you aim to get fit, it's the start of your 'journey' can noon just lose weight, get fit, sort their head out without going on a 'journey' it drives me mad!

OP posts:
SpudTato · 01/07/2016 17:09

Hah me too.
The one that really gets me is the Masterchef 'journey'. FFS.

FloatyFlo · 01/07/2016 17:10

Oh me too! A woman on my college course keeps referring to it as a journey.

"Oh thank you (tutors name) I couldn't have completed this amazing journey without you"

Bore off woman!

ApocalypseSlough · 01/07/2016 17:11

I was at a workshop today and trainer pronounced it Johnny! And must have said it a hundred times. Grin

Noodledoodledoo · 01/07/2016 17:15

It really grates for me to. Everyone seems to be on a 'journey' Grrr.

powershowerforanhour · 01/07/2016 17:18

Seems terminal illnesses involving a protracted and eventually miserable pitiful decline that you wouldn't wish on your worst enemy, such as Alzheimer's disease, have prime "journey" potential.

LiquoriceAllsorts86 · 01/07/2016 17:27

Not as much as I hate the term 'chapter'
Everything my friend does, she announces a new 'chapter'

dailymaillazyjournos · 01/07/2016 17:28

YANBU. One of my most hated hates. I honestly want to slap anyone who's on a journey. Unless they are on an actual journey.

IamtheZombie · 01/07/2016 17:33

Zombie has incurable cancer. Those of you who don't consider living with that as a journey should count your lucky stars.

DancingDinosaur · 01/07/2016 17:41

Completely agree Zombie.

And Flowers to you too.

Beanzmeanzcoffee · 01/07/2016 17:44

YANBU. I just want to yell 'get your head out of your own arse! What you are doing is living your life. Like everyone else'. (Steps down off soapbox)

Beanzmeanzcoffee · 01/07/2016 17:46

Oh Zombie I'm sorry Brew

daisychain01 · 01/07/2016 17:47

Life is about the journey, not the destination. It's a marathon not a sprint, and all that.

But I agree, when it's over-used it sounds hackneyed and irritating.

Madbengalmum · 01/07/2016 17:48

Yes, it sounds very twattish, hate it

Meemolly · 01/07/2016 18:00

Hope you've enjoyed this thread journey.... Sorry I couldn't resist!!

StealthPolarBear · 01/07/2016 18:04

Yes it's overused.
Do people still have "rocks"?

StealthPolarBear · 01/07/2016 18:06

And zombie you get to call it whatever you want love :)
Bit if you ever warble Celine dion om x factor and talk tearfully about your musical journey I'll rip your arm off and beat you round the head with it ;)

ForalltheSaints · 01/07/2016 19:14

I agree it is an overused word.

OldManJenkins · 01/07/2016 19:33

Someone once asked me about my 'breastfeeding journey' in all seriousness.

downright · 01/07/2016 20:45

The problem is that run of the mill everyday humdrum bullshit is dressed up as a life changing fucking journey.

Cancer may or may not be a journey. Luckily I have no personal experience.

However, being on The Voice or Masterchef is not a fucking journey.

Everyone has to be a special snowflake. You can just "be" anymore.

JenniferYellowHat1980 · 01/07/2016 20:53

Cancer kind of is a journey, from the initial uncertainty to the final inevitability. The problem is that management speakers and life coach types have hijacked it. Learning journey Angry

elephantoverthehill · 01/07/2016 20:55

Where I work, we have had a number of HTs, in rapid succession. Each one has told us in their opening to staff speech that we are on a journey. We have been on a bus, a boat, a rowing boat and back on a bus again. I'd just rather work in a school. I know where you are coming from OP, but the overuse takes it away from those who really could describe their experiences as a journey.

StealthPolarBear · 01/07/2016 21:01

Love that, can you have a camel ride nexy time?

elephantoverthehill · 01/07/2016 21:24

Stealth I will suggest it. It would have to be a camel train though, to ensure we all work together and drink from the same watering hole. I will be near the rear.
