I am thinking of having a tummy tuck. Has anyone had one?

Am I being unreasonable to think this is a good thing to do? (There we go !)

I had a baby this year plus I have bad lipohypertrophy

I am a bit scared of the surgery process and the risks but I know it would help me in so many ways if I did have it done.

I had one 4 months ago along with a breast lift. Love it

I have lost 40ks and have carried twins. Desperate to get a tummy tuck!

I would like one and now the kids are older ( both at primary) I'm thinking of it more and more. Having the kids has changed my shape and I have looked six months preggo for ten years straight.
My DP doesn't want me to have one but for his selfish reasons not concern for me!

I wouldn't do it unless you have s lot of help with baby.
You can't stand up straight for 10 days if you get a muscle repair as well .I was warned but it was a shock.

You can make an appointment with a doctor to discuss the pros and cons, any health risks, exactly what is involved, what preparation, aftercare.
Any responsible surgeon would want to discuss a cosmetic procedure properly first, anyway.

That enables you to make an informed decision. If your family can afford it financially, then it's your body, your choice.
If you don't have a DP, or they are not likely to help, I suggest you also budget for say 3 weeks paid help to do any family chores that are normally your responsibilty, e.g. for transport, cleaner, childcare, meals delivered.

My sister had one and the skin that was removed was used to have her breast reconstructed.

If you want one and can afford it then have it. If I could've paid to have my tummy sorted at the same time as my c section then I would have!

I want my boobs and tummy done. Just deciding if I should a have dc2 or not...
Go fo for it. Very cliché but life is too short. Will it make you happy? Do you think it'll make you pick at other things? That's what I worry about.

Those who have had it done, was it a good decision?
I had a c section, how much worse would it be compared to that?
I have an appointment on Monday with my diabetes consultant (the lumps are caused by that)
It's not something I would consider lightly, but pregnancy has caused the lumps to look a zillion times worse)

My breasts are okay so I will leave them be (Small but okay!)

Great decision. All fat, loose skin removed and internal muscles stitched up .
But uncomfortable for weeks. I'd do it again tomorrow. Make sure you are the optimum weight first for best results.

I had mine done at the nuffield in Newcastle.

Always have consult with surgeon which you pay for.
Avoid consult with a sales person. The after care was amazing . In nuffield for 5 days.
Surgeon came morning and late night for first 2 days then daily afterwards , even weekend.
No extras. My breast lift was easy and great results.
Had a small reduction too ,so went down about 1 1/2 sizes . The best thing ever.
I can wear nice summer jersey dresses without a bulging Tummy.
I was already a size 10 so have got very good results. 4 DC had stretched skin that gym round not fix.
I paid £ 9885 for both.
Would be about £13000/£14000 separately.
I was terrified of anaesthetic as I have DC but was told if you are healthy , non smoker it is very very low risk.
People who die are usually because if complications such as old, overweight , diabetic ect .
My surgeon won't operate on smokers and he is a NHS specialist in breast reconstruction .
Try and get someone who is currently working in the NHS and does private too.
I would avoid the likes of transform ect.

As I've said before on here please get a plastic surgeon not a cosmetic surgeon - you want someone who also does NHS work. The NHS had very high standards and insists on continued practice development - cosmetic surgery businesses are just that - businesses.

Not had a tummy tuck (definitely need one though!) but have had breast augmentation MrsLoisLane. I don't think many surgeons like doing it with anything less than a GA - mine certainly didn't. It's really not scary though. I was in and out in a day, recovery wise was pretty immobile for 3 days, managing simple things in a week and almost back to normal after 2 weeks. That was under the muscle - over the muscle is apparantely easier to recover from. Take a look on Real Self - there's some great advice/accounts on there.

Please please please avoid surgi care and hospital group cosmetic surgery only hospitals.

I deeply regret not going to somewhere such as BMI or Nuffield hospitals.

Are you planning on more children? I believe they're only really recommended after you've finished having kids.

I would love one but am not quite sure I'm finished as far as children go.

Thank you for all the responses, it has been so helpful. My diabetes consultant will be referring me to a NHS surgeon and I don't plan on having any more kids.
I will let you know how I get on tomorrow at the hospital. I am not over weight (heavier then normal though after baby) and I do not smoke.
It's scary, but I know I definitely want it done.

You will get best results if you are at your goal weight before the operation. Really .
Smoother and tighter.

I've had one and don't regret it for a second.

It's not washboard flat but is a hell of a lot better than it was. I was a healthy weight and a gym goer but the stretched skin wasn't going anywhere no matter how hard I worked.

It is painful, I found it worse than a c-section and you have to wear a surgical corset for several weeks. The muscle repair feels like you have done a billion sit ups.

Be realistic about the results, you might not achieve perfection and my swelling took a good 6 months to go properly.

I had mine done abroad which is a bit of a gamble and I needed a minor correction but I'm really happy with it. Feel free to PM me if you want to know any more.

I had a boob job. They can't do them under LA, it has to be a GA. Its seriously invasive surgery.

Felt like I'd been hit by a truck after so god knows what a tummy tuck would feel like.

Best decision I ever made though!

They can do them under heavy sedation and LA. However GA is prefered
