Sorry, posting here for traffic - it's urgent!
Was walking in the garden earlier today and saw a plant that needing a bit of TLC. I took off my engagement ring and put down my bra (no pockets available) to keep it clean. Then I fell down , must have stepped in a hole (am on crutches so a bit wobbly at the best of times). I had to pull myself along to a tree so I could get hold of it to help me up. Came indoors, stripped off as clothes were all wet, and ring is gone ... went back but can't see it. The grass has been cut but is coarse and has some weeds. My bra was quite close fitting, wired, normally a ring would not be able to fall out but with me struggling to get up it seems that's what happened .... so I'm quite distraught now, and don't know how on earth I can find it. I can't get down on my knees, have retraced my steps twice to no avail. Any ideas please?

My ring has been found! My DH called about an hour ago (away on work trip til tomorrow) and I started blubbing ... he called one of his colleagues who lives nearby to come round and have a look for me. He found it in about 5 minutes. I am so pleased! Thanks for your ideas and good wishes. I will definitely be more careful in future!

Glad you found it....but I need to know where and how. I'm a nosey fecker!

parmalilac · 30/06/2016 19:51

GonnaDoItAnyway - he walked around my route, then got on hands and knees at the place where I'd fallen, armed with a garden hand fork and found it next to the tree.

What Wulfy said. In the West Midlands is a lovely metal detectorist (hobby, not professional, no charge) who delights in finding lost items. He has a great story about the engagement ring of a young woman who kept horses!!! If you are in WM message me and I'll put you in touch. I'm sure there are similar people in other areas, good luck!

Thanks again all and goodnight! I'm OK but will no doubt be a bit stiff tomorrow. Here's a picture of the ring back where it belongs.

Pull a pair of tights over the hoover and get hoovering. In the end you will find it stuck to the tights x

It's an awful feeling when you lose something that precious, my mum was in bits when she lost hers.

Luckily I found it in the compost bin - having seached the normal bin firstEnvy
