Older people and medicine services

user1467290017 · 30/06/2016 13:55

Today I was waiting in a queue to the local medicine centre and an oldery lady on crutches couldnt get an appointment to the doctor sooner than 6th of July and she was so sad and said she would like sooner but they couldnt do anything. I saw her going home on crutches when I young and with a car sat and drove away. I cant believe government cant make old people a priority instead of junkies on which they spend so much money. While she was taking her bag her crutches fell and i picked them and gave to her and she was apologising to me that she have been scared with falling noise of crutches my baby daughter and I still cant get over it, how she can apologise to me for her falling cratches sound. I opened her doors because medicine centre cant even make sure they patients dont need to worry about doors because there is a lot people who cant.
It is so not fair and these pavements are in such a bad conditions for invalids and these with mobility problems because they dont understand because they drive on cars not on wheelchairs. I just recently realized it because of pram, before I didnt had any idea that that is so bad.
Sorry for my long text and mistakes I made but i needed to put it out. Just to add, one close family member is GP and he has holidays every single month!!! no joking

Hmm
feathermucker · 30/06/2016 13:57

So, you've come on to start a goofy thread and argue with people!

Second Biscuit of the day to you.

feathermucker · 30/06/2016 13:58

I actually meant goady, but goofy will suffice Grin

user1467290017 · 30/06/2016 14:01

Sorry, I dont really understand what do you mean by arguing with people

OP posts:
Sirzy · 30/06/2016 14:02

I'm not even sure what your point is supposed to be?

KittyLaRoux · 30/06/2016 14:02

There is so much wrong with your post I don't know where to start!

However in the interest of not giving in to the goady nature of it you can start my:

Contacting your local council and MP regarding the state of the pavements.
You can also write to your MP regarding appointment waiting times.
You can contact the manager of the medical centre and complain about the lack of provisions/adaptations for people with disabilities.

As for the rest of your post it's just ill tought out tripe.

HTH

YABU

Give her a ride home you tight chuff.
Smile

user1467290017 · 30/06/2016 14:06

Well I suppose my post was just an emotion explosion, I just feel so sorry for these kind of old people

OP posts:
feathermucker · 30/06/2016 14:07

Okay, just goady then..........

feathermucker · 30/06/2016 14:09

Feeling sorry for them is fine; saying that the money is spent on junkies is ridiculous (and goady)

It's quite standard that someone has to wait for a doctor's appointment. 6 days, while frustrating, is not exactly a very long time.

SaucyJack · 30/06/2016 14:13

Perhaps the receptionist recognised it wasn't an emergency?

Our GP always finds appointments for people who need them.

Being over a certain age doesn't bump one up the waiting list, and nor should it IMO.

AdultingIsNotWhatIExpected · 30/06/2016 14:13

invalids YABU

for all you know she might be a regular who makes appointments every other week for a "chat"

What do you want the GP to do about her being on crutches, presumably they already have capacity for patients to book appointments by phone and she didn't actually have to go in in person to find out the wait on appointments

What has any of this got to do with addicts? She might beone herself, there are older people addicted to OTC pain meds too

user1467290017 · 30/06/2016 14:14

I rather want my taxes go to old people who needs help than junkies who needs help. Just because first doesnt have choice but seconds have choice and opportunities

OP posts:
Laiste · 30/06/2016 14:14

OP you sound like my mum Grin

MollyTwo · 30/06/2016 14:15

Here's your pat on the back Biscuit

Sirzy · 30/06/2016 14:16

If the "junkies" aren't given help then surely you are taking away their choice and opportunities though? Addictions aren't self curing!

Pinkheart5915 · 30/06/2016 14:16

I'm not even sure what point you are trying to make. Do you really think the old lady couldn't see a doctor because of people with drug addictions? Confused

Oh and for god sake User please get yourself a proper name

AdultingIsNotWhatIExpected · 30/06/2016 14:16

How do you know if she needs help or not? She might just want a referal for something cosmetic, or holiday jabs, or she might be a "doctor shopper", or she might need help, the kind of help that can be safely delayed by 6 days so that emergencies can be fitted in today, y'know?

A "junkie" who was introduced to hard drugs at age 9, hasn't exactly had the same "choices" in life as everyone else Hmm

expatinscotland · 30/06/2016 14:17

So you didn't offer her a lift? FFS.

First? Seconds? WTAF? You know what I despair of more than older people and the NHS? Schools that pass pupils out with this excuse for literacy.

FFS really?

Look you can be angry about the treatment of others and you can do something proactive to stop it but moaning on here about your precious tax payments is just you being a GF.

Sparklesilverglitter · 30/06/2016 14:18

Everybody has to wait for GP appointments these days it's just the way it is and not because all time and money from GP goes to drug addicts. Have a Biscuit

Oh and for God sake User get yourself a proper username YesYes to this instead on writing a goady post you could of gone in to setting and got yourself an actual user name

dangermouseisace · 30/06/2016 14:19

YABU for the following:

  • 'junkie' drug services are woefully underfunded- a pittance is 'wasted' or in other words, spent, on them.
  • waiting until 6th July for a routine appointment isn't actually that bad. I'm sure if the matter was urgent the GP would have seen her sooner/made a home visit.
  • the person in question could have telephoned the surgery if she felt that travelling to the surgery was inconvenient for her

YANBU for the following:

  • yes, it's true, many pavements are horrendous they prevent many people having the access to general normal stuff in society that everyone should be entitled to. You can write to your local councillor about this- they may have plans in place to improve as many local authorities are (our local high street has been transformed recently so it is all flat, smooth and accessible)

Good job you don't get to decide where your taxes go then, isn't it? Do you pay much tax?

PortiaCastis · 30/06/2016 14:22

Sorry, there are GPs who use this site who will be extremely amused at the thought of a holiday every month.
Don't be so silly!
Which school do you go to?

expatinscotland · 30/06/2016 14:25

Yeah, LOL. I have two personal friends who are GPs. But they don't have enough to go on holiday ever month, maybe the person you know is a Great Pusher of illegal drugs type, GP.
