Older people and medicine services

Today I was waiting in a queue to the local medicine centre and an oldery lady on crutches couldnt get an appointment to the doctor sooner than 6th of July and she was so sad and said she would like sooner but they couldnt do anything. I saw her going home on crutches when I young and with a car sat and drove away. I cant believe government cant make old people a priority instead of junkies on which they spend so much money. While she was taking her bag her crutches fell and i picked them and gave to her and she was apologising to me that she have been scared with falling noise of crutches my baby daughter and I still cant get over it, how she can apologise to me for her falling cratches sound. I opened her doors because medicine centre cant even make sure they patients dont need to worry about doors because there is a lot people who cant.
It is so not fair and these pavements are in such a bad conditions for invalids and these with mobility problems because they dont understand because they drive on cars not on wheelchairs. I just recently realized it because of pram, before I didnt had any idea that that is so bad.
Sorry for my long text and mistakes I made but i needed to put it out. Just to add, one close family member is GP and he has holidays every single month!!! no joking

There is so much wrong with your post I don't know where to start!

However in the interest of not giving in to the goady nature of it you can start my:

Contacting your local council and MP regarding the state of the pavements.
You can also write to your MP regarding appointment waiting times.
You can contact the manager of the medical centre and complain about the lack of provisions/adaptations for people with disabilities.

As for the rest of your post it's just ill tought out tripe.

It's quite standard that someone has to wait for a doctor's appointment. 6 days, while frustrating, is not exactly a very long time.

Perhaps the receptionist recognised it wasn't an emergency?

Our GP always finds appointments for people who need them.

Being over a certain age doesn't bump one up the waiting list, and nor should it IMO.

What do you want the GP to do about her being on crutches, presumably they already have capacity for patients to book appointments by phone and she didn't actually have to go in in person to find out the wait on appointments

What has any of this got to do with addicts? She might beone herself, there are older people addicted to OTC pain meds too

If the "junkies" aren't given help then surely you are taking away their choice and opportunities though? Addictions aren't self curing!

How do you know if she needs help or not? She might just want a referal for something cosmetic, or holiday jabs, or she might be a "doctor shopper", or she might need help, the kind of help that can be safely delayed by 6 days so that emergencies can be fitted in today, y'know?

A "junkie" who was introduced to hard drugs at age 9, hasn't exactly had the same "choices" in life as everyone else

YABU for the following:

• 'junkie' drug services are woefully underfunded- a pittance is 'wasted' or in other words, spent, on them.
• waiting until 6th July for a routine appointment isn't actually that bad. I'm sure if the matter was urgent the GP would have seen her sooner/made a home visit.
• the person in question could have telephoned the surgery if she felt that travelling to the surgery was inconvenient for her

YANBU for the following:

• yes, it's true, many pavements are horrendous they prevent many people having the access to general normal stuff in society that everyone should be entitled to. You can write to your local councillor about this- they may have plans in place to improve as many local authorities are (our local high street has been transformed recently so it is all flat, smooth and accessible)

Sorry, there are GPs who use this site who will be extremely amused at the thought of a holiday every month.
