I have an illogical fear of large empty swimming pools. It's totally irrational but I'd be too frightened to look at one let alone stand in it.

Yes,LastGirl, lines under mushrooms!
It's the repetition in nature thing.

MyBreadIsEggy · 30/06/2016 20:13

alegretto I was literally just about to type "human teeth" and then I saw your post!
I was never scared of the dentist or teeth, until I had to have 4 teeth removed in preparation for having braces fitted when I was about 13/14. The first two tooth extractions were fine, job done quickly and I got the feeling back in my mouth pretty quickly. But two weeks later I had to go back and have two removed the opposite side, and the dentist had a faulty, leaky syringe that dribbled the local anaesthetic into my entire mouth, not just the required area! It was vile! I couldn't feel the lower half of my face, but I could feel blood and saliva dripping everywhere because I couldn't feel my face to keep my mouth semi-closed or form the right shapes to spit!
I've been terrified of the dentist and teeth in general ever since! I love plastic surgery programmes like "Botched Up Bodies", and I can happily watch a woman getting her butchered boobs patched up, or a dodgy facelift get fixed, but as soon as someone goes in with a bad dental job I have to turn it off Confused

LastGirlOnTheLeft · 30/06/2016 20:18

That is so interesting, Pippin. I find them so revolting I can't have anything to do with mushrooms. I can't even touch them never mind eat them.Confused

Asprilla11 · 30/06/2016 20:22

Oh I forgot something from my list, touching raw meat, even just bacon!

newtscamander · 30/06/2016 20:25

Wind turbines. I think it's because they look all futuristic and robotic or something.

Stratter5 · 30/06/2016 20:25

Yellow teeth. I hate bad teeth.

People eating. If I had my own way, I would eat all by myself, so I didnt have to see anyone else eating, and walking and eating would be banned.

Pettywoman · 30/06/2016 20:29

Silos, especially near run down or disused farm buildings. I can't help imagining being thrown in. Creepy.

Snooks1971 · 30/06/2016 20:32

Ditto the huge freaky hulls of ships and also submarines...

Imagine swimming in the sea (not that I ever would) and somehow, inadvertently being next to the bow of a ship Shock or, a submarine may easily surface next to you..... all entirely possible in my head

OliveBranchCollins · 30/06/2016 20:40

Clowns
Ventriquists dummies
Daddy long leg
Pork I'm fine with all other meat but everything about pork makes me want to hurl and cry and run away

LastGirlOnTheLeft · 30/06/2016 20:43

Strayer yellow teeth do NOT mean bad teeth.

Petty you didn't happen to watch Witness or Dark Night Of the Scarecrow, did you?

LastGirlOnTheLeft · 30/06/2016 20:44

Sorry....Stratter obviously!!!

ClarkeyCat · 30/06/2016 20:44

When there is a technical fault with a tv station and it goes off air. Remember in the 90's, I think it was ITV would put on a picture of a load of roofs with aerials? Aaaarrgghhh. It makes me feel really uneasy. I can't really put my finger on it.

minatiae · 30/06/2016 20:46

ships

Champagneformyrealfriends · 30/06/2016 20:50

Cake bars. Confused

Fucking cake bars.

feelingdizzy · 30/06/2016 20:51

Escalators,terrified getting on one.

Buzzardbird · 30/06/2016 20:52

People on stilts and touching crisp new £5 notes with wet hands.

bigtapdancingpimp · 30/06/2016 20:53

Bright red lipstick on women wearing no other make-up, not even a hint of mascara.

I really can't explain why this bothers me so much Confused

Snooks1971 · 30/06/2016 21:12

The cuffs of a woolly cardigan or jumper that accidentally get wet (by washing up etc). Cannot bear wet woolly cuffs

YourNewspaperIsShit · 30/06/2016 21:13

Stairs with gaps in that you can see through Blush

Any chemical cream like anti-wrinkle or rejuvenating bollocks. Makes me think of skin being pulled overly taught and I cringe massively. Won't even touch it with my fingers!

TroysMammy · 30/06/2016 21:18

Moths and eating a shelled hard boiled egg like it's an apple.

Smeldra · 30/06/2016 21:20

Flying ants.

Even typing that has made all the hairs on my arms stick up and my scalp itch

Roomba · 30/06/2016 21:20

Swings. I have given up trying to push my kids on them as I feel faint and almost vomit with fear. No idea why!

Slugs. I can barely type the word. No issue with snails at all. Living in a very old house is not helping as they get in my kitchen at night.

I am also emetophobic, but that's quite common I think?

Double decker buses freak me out, I can't sit upstairs, much to my kids' annoyance. I am terrified they will tip over when we go round a corner. Same with big lorries, and huge ships. Those massive cruise ships frighten me to death.

mynamesnotMa · 30/06/2016 21:21

Mess

Roomba · 30/06/2016 21:23

Just remembered this one - bath sponges. Can't bear to touch them and when I read about pregnant women getting cravings and chewing/sucking them it makes me go all weak and shaky!

backtowork2015 · 30/06/2016 21:37

Egg shell. I will go to great lengths to get a fragment out. Will even crack a new one rather than risk a fragment in my scrambled egg or omelette
