I have an illogical fear of large empty swimming pools. It's totally irrational but I'd be too frightened to look at one let alone stand in it.

More on here I'm agreeing with, 100% yes to other people's sponges/cloths. In my head I know they're clean people and likely have clean cloths yet somehow I eye it up as though it's been in use constantly for the last 6 months. Yuck.

Also agree with ladybirds. And for some reason they seek me out.

Asprilla11 · 30/06/2016 21:43

Ladybirds are one of the few insects I like Grin

Claireshh · 30/06/2016 21:49

Every Christmas I make biscotti for my mother in law. Every year I almost lose it when the dough is at the sticky stage. It gets stuck to my fingers and I get all claustrophobic and feel sick. Urgh.

Carina2016 · 30/06/2016 21:56

Empty swimming pools, things coming up the toilet pipe, people opening crisp packets 🙈

Changesofmind · 30/06/2016 21:58

Bristles/brushes. I can't be in the room when someone cleans their teeth. It makes me vom. I also hate the outside sweeping brush things, road sweepers and bristles on paint brushes Although I can clean my own teeth because I'll never chew on the bristles. HORRIBLE THOUGHT.

A friend of mine is equally as horrified by wet wood. I have another friend who is afraid of the wooden coffee stirrers you get in Starbucks.

Changesofmind · 30/06/2016 22:02

Oh and that tv static/white noise sound. Freaks me the hell out.

cosytoaster · 30/06/2016 22:02

Men with prominent and/or pointy Adam's apples [shudder]

The thought of biting the sleeve of a woollen jumper and the squeaky feeling it would give my teeth.

Lacystacie · 30/06/2016 22:07

Plug hole gunk ..... Can't stand the stuff has me heaving at the thought of it even using tweezers I can't stand it

backtowork2015 · 30/06/2016 22:10

Oh! You're so right, squeaky wool on my teeth ... ugh!

Letmehaveausername · 30/06/2016 22:13

Wet wool!!! The feeling of it makes me come out in goosebumps!!!

bigtapdancingpimp · 30/06/2016 22:14

Roomba Double decker buses are weird - the centre of gravity is too high!

Baked beans, celery and balloons.. I'm an atheist but I'd pray to any god if it would save me from the hellish trinity OF PURE EVIL HELL

JennyOnAPlate · 30/06/2016 22:15

Untreated wood. Wooden spoons are my nemesis and I can't eat an ice lolly.

flappingbingowings · 30/06/2016 22:20

I have an illogical fear of people with an illogical fear of things

StrumpersPlunkett · 30/06/2016 22:21

Big birds or particularly flappy birds
They make me feel sick/faint/proper fight or flight.

I know why. A school trip as a teenager to a falconry in Germany where they threw dead fluffy yellow chicks into the audience and MASSIVE birds of prey swooped to get the chicks before they fell into our laps. The main thing I could see was claws beaks and wings!!

Fucking hideous.

LittleWingSoul · 30/06/2016 22:22

Hooded tops/jackets hung from the HOOD and not the little hangy bit by the neckline when on a peg. I have been known to stitch a piece of tape onto hooded tops that have no hangy bit to save this disaster from occurring in my own home.

And spiders.

dudsville · 30/06/2016 22:24

Because of tv documentary type things I worry I have giant worms living in me. And then off course there's that mner who keeps finding bits of one in her stool. Does. Not. Help. Me. One. Bit.

monkeysox · 30/06/2016 22:29

Walking in bathroom in socks and standing in water. Shudder. Blush

TattooEnvy · 30/06/2016 22:29

The feeling, or sound, of scraping nails on paper... Makes me feel queasy just typing it!

Boats out of water.

And large ropes or chains, the type usually found around boats.

They all make my spine hurt. Shudder.

Icklepickle101 · 30/06/2016 22:31

Bridges, petrify me!

There is a long one near stansteD and I got so freaked out I had a panic attack and had to pull over, which meant I had to spend even longer in there which scared me even more!

FurryTurnip · 30/06/2016 22:32

Damp dishcloths- I would have to immediately throw it away. Filthy bacteria infested nasty things.

Those little tarts with different fruit on top that are covered in some kind of hideous jelly that makes it look like a slug has crawled all over it.

Covered swimming pools or hot tubs. And anchors.

spangles06 · 30/06/2016 22:33

Little packets of tomato ketchup/mayonnaise etc Shock

Autumnchill · 30/06/2016 22:33

Mirrored bathroom cabinets. If I stay somewhere and there is one, before lifting my head from the sink, I turn round first to ensure no one is behind me and I will never wipe steam off a mirror!

And shower curtains pulled all the way across. I would leave the room rather than even try and look behind it.

And shaving mirrors fixed to the wall on an extendable arm.

I blame: any horror/thriller movie and the last one was in Amityville 2 or 3 Grin

Icklepickle101 · 30/06/2016 22:34

And ice lolly sticks. Have to get someone to open them and wrap the plastic around the wooden handle for me!

cupidsgame · 30/06/2016 22:37

The Shining can take the blame for the shower curtainAutumnchill Grin
I'm loving reading these fears you all have, aren't we a strange lot. Grin

I am so relieved to find other people who are scared by boats out of water! I had a full-on panic attack when I saw a submarine in dry dock once.

This has now led to a fear of anything underwater, including sea creatures, hulls of boats, shipwrecks... I love swimming but I won't go near a deep pool now either Sad
