I have an illogical fear of large empty swimming pools. It's totally irrational but I'd be too frightened to look at one let alone stand in it.

Moths and Cornflour!

The idea of those cat cafes, no thank you! I can't imagine anyone being relaxed surrounded by cats...

birds, I can handle big birds of prey and owls, but seagulls or smaller make my skin crawl, especially pigeons. I've got goosebumps typing thisConfused

Things with faces that shouldn't have faces. So clocks with faces drawn on or this type of thing:

The moon. The way it sometimes shows up in daylight...haha, I'm watching ya.

SixtiesChildOfWildBlueSkies · 30/06/2016 13:57

If I use the bathroom at night, don't put the light on, and catch sight of myself in the mirror - freaks me out.

Also, biting a banana is a no no, it has to be sliced up and eaten with a fork Confused

reallywittyname · 30/06/2016 13:58

Holes... lots of little holes... and clusters of seeds inside melons... blegh. But crumpets, aeros and sponges don't faze me at all. Weird.

Didyoumeantobesorude1 · 30/06/2016 14:00

The idea of water coming through the ceiling.

FlyingElbows · 30/06/2016 14:03

Sharks in swimming pools and behind me in the bath. Cause they're so frequently found there!

Spiders, proper full on panic attack fear which is highly embarrassing when you're stood in the middle of the road screaming and everyone thinks your husband is trying to kill you!! Blush

Cakes other people have touched.

MarmiteMakesMeHappy · 30/06/2016 14:05

Fish. The idea of touching a living fish repulses me. I think is from when I was small and jumped off a boat in the Med only to find the water was thick with shoals of fat black ten inch fish that I had to shove aside to get to the surface.

Unexpected textures in my food. If I am eating something creamy for example and find misled crunching down on something, I have to spit it out and sieve the rest of the food before binning it. The rational part of me knows it's probably a just a bit of plastic packaging but I am always frightened that it's something sinister like a poison crystal planted be people who want to kill me.

I had never thought about huge ships in dry docks before but someone posted a picture of one on a similar thread a few months ago, and since then I have a slightly morbid compulsion to keep looking at it. Weird.

TroysMammy · 30/06/2016 14:06

Tinsel garlands ugh!

Themoonhatesthestars · 30/06/2016 14:07

Dry cotton wool and mirrors at night too. For some odd reason I picture the black tiles in a T-shape at the bottom of a swimming pool that show the lane ends will turn into hammerhead sharks and chase me!!!!

LucyFotheringay · 30/06/2016 14:17

How do you cottonwool-phobes feel about candy floss? I'm eating some now and DD refuses to put it anywhere near her mouth Confused

HatHardOn · 30/06/2016 14:18

I don't fear pigeons but I have never been able to get over the thought that they are small recording devices. So, if I'm around one, I'll become shifty but try to act as naturally as possible.

Elephantslovetofly · 30/06/2016 14:25

I have water related ones too - I cannot swim over drains in swimming pools, they freak me out. I also hate wave machines and cannot even look at them underwater

The other thing is being near a boat whilst in the sea - even a small boat. I have a fear I will get trapped underneath it. Don't go in the sea any more as it just causes too much stress!

Babysafari · 30/06/2016 14:26

Dark blue swimming pools like this. Makes me feel sick and I'd never get in one.

""I can't be near uncovered mirrors at night, the mirror in my room is covered with a blanket because I worry I will look and see something peeping at me""

I've never met anyone else with this. It isn't just mirrors, it's any reflective surface.

As well as seeing Spirits/Demons, I'm scared that I'll be backwards, or not there at all.

FlightyWindmills · 30/06/2016 14:30

Adults with tiny teeth Shock

Babysafari · 30/06/2016 14:30

I'm also scared of the fish in the sea and won't go in.

IToldYouIWasFreaky · 30/06/2016 14:31

I agree with big things in seas. Just too much big!

Icebergs in particular freak me out, especially those images of an (apparently) tiny bit of iceberg sticking out of the water and then LOADS more under the sea. Shock Horrible.
