to keep ds off on strike day when his teacher is not striking?

I have 2 dc's in school (primary) dd is off and ds is one of the 3 classes out of 14 who are due in. I just think it will be a pointless day as they can't carry on with normal work. A lot of the subjects they split in to groups from both classes in a year group and the other form in his year (year 3) are off.

Plus I feel a bit sorry for him!

Aibu to keep him off? What would you all do?

I always sent mine in if their teacher was not working. Even if it meant one was in and the other wasn't.

I'd keep him off.

Just having a few classes open makes it really awkward for parents with more than one child.

I think schools should either strike or not. Having bits of school open is weird.

No there's an NUT strike next Tuesday.

We had a letter sent home today advising us to seek alternative childcare arrangements for next Tuesday but it also said we would be advised for certain tomorrow if it was needed.

I think you should send him in really. The reason some of the school will be open, king is because it's a specific union. So other teachers have to go in!

I wouldn't even be questioning this - it'd be a day off all round in our house!

Dd's nursery class, the reception class and year 3 are open next Tuesday but the remaining classes aren't. She is my old dcs at that school so she will be going in.

If her sibling was off then I'd keep her off too

Urgh, I had no idea that there was a strike in England on Tuesday. We're already on holiday here (Scotland) and we are heading off to England on holiday as we'd hoped it would be nice and quiet.... Won't be doing any zoo/park/beach trips on Tuesday then!

I will phone my non-striking child in sick.....chronic whinging disorder. It's very damaging to parent's ears and sanity. Not to be taken lightly!

In DS's school they send a letter out saying they understand if siblings are kept off on strike days.
I'd keep both DC off.
