To send ds to holiday club?

The school are running free holiday club, loads of activities, ds would love it. Only thing is I'm on maternity leave so don't actually need him to go this year, and there are only a few places. Would I be bad to book him into a couple of odd days?

From my point of view it would be good for him but I might be taking a place from someone who needs it for work.

Ask the club if it's ok?

SheHasAWildHeart · 29/06/2016 09:26

What are the timings? I usually find that free holiday clubs run for shorter days than paid ones and therefore aren't suitable for working parents anyway.

HermioneJeanGranger · 29/06/2016 09:37

Of course it's okay! Why wouldn't it be?

Leeds2 · 29/06/2016 09:40

I would book my child in if s/he wanted to go.

Presumably if the school think it should be operated on the basis that working parents have priority, they will do that. Our after school club is oversubscribed and they are clear about that.

Send him. If it's anything lile the one at our school it's more to give the kids a chance to do some activities that their parents couldn't otherwise afford. Our school have a free week of activities for the children with limited places, things like football training, obstacle courses, cricket etc.

If it was primarily for those who work then it would say so. I know ours is aimed more at helping parents keep their kids occupied during the long holiday in an area with very low income and not much for kids to do rather than as childcare for working parents.

Scarydinosaurs · 29/06/2016 10:41

Of course! It's for him more than you.

That's fine. I'm at work and the holiday clubs round here mostly run such short hours that they're not suitable anyway. Your DS would love it!
