To feel very sad about the results

That's all. Sad and worried about what will happen. Feels like hate, racism and fear have won :(

OP posts:
Laiste · 24/06/2016 07:27

I wish the BBC wouldn't keep on showing Nigel Farrage crowing about the result. It wasn't his victory. Yet more spin IMO.

SeamstressfromTreacleMineRoad · 24/06/2016 07:28

My DC and DGC will be paying for this for the rest of their lives... I feel real fear and apprehension at what has been unleashed. Have just seen Nigel F on TV proclaiming a 'victory for ordinary decent people', so suppose that half the voters see me as somehow not decent and not ordinary... Angry
1930s here we come Sad

Laiste · 24/06/2016 07:32

seamstress - half the voters see me as somehow not decent and not ordinary...

Sadly that's exactly what vote leavers are being accused of too. Oh and also 'un-educated'. (See other thread) Which ever way this vote went today was always going to be about attacking the other side :(

ThePinkOcelot · 24/06/2016 07:36

I voted leave! Immigration was the bottom of my list actually so shove your hate and racism up your backside!! BTW YABU!!

BagpussDearBagpuss · 24/06/2016 07:36

Of course you're being unreasonable. Do you seriously think that over half of the population (who bothered to vote) are racist? I'm sick to death of people who voted to remain thinking that they take the moral and intellectual high ground.

Laiste · 24/06/2016 07:39

Grin Loving ''shove your hate up your backside''. It's a depressing read here this morning, everyone at each others throats, and maybe it's wrong but that made me chuckle.

cheeseandcrackers77 · 24/06/2016 07:40

I voted leave. I am not racist or xenophobic.

I did not base my vote on imigration. I am more than aware that more non EU people migrated to the UK last year than the EU.

I based my vote on many things but one is that every month the EU parliament moves to France for 4 days. In 7 years the cost of this is just under £100 million. A vote was taken to stop this and was won 3 to 1. France has a veto on this and nvoked it's veto as it suits them to have the parliament in France for 4 days due to the money that it brings France. So despite an over whelming vote to make this change and save this money France will refuse to allow it happen. Not very democratic is it.

Brownfiesta · 24/06/2016 07:40

I feel both sad and apprehensive as PP said I don't want to live in Farage's vision for GB.

DS (18) is angry - he feels that his future has been decided by the older generation and that the younger generation have been screwed over again.

HisNameWasPrinceAndHeWasFunky · 24/06/2016 07:42

The London bbc news keeps reporting "London has voted to Remain" and confusing me. I want to slap the reporter.
As if it makes any difference at all how London voted.

SadSadSad

branofthemist · 24/06/2016 07:43

DS (18) is angry - he feels that his future has been decided by the older generation and that the younger generation have been screwed over again.

that how democracy works. Everyone votes and is essentially deciding something for everyone else.

Why do older people's vote mean less? Why should their views not be valid because some younger people disagree.

Besides which, what's older? The leave voters I know are all under 50.

If you ds is 18 the majority of voters will be older and are entitled to their vote wether your son agrees or not.

Fwiw I wanted to stay. But it's not how it went.

Hughes32 · 24/06/2016 07:47

No you're not. I'm feeling sad this morning too.

My Facebook feed is full of people's opinions on the result. What I'm sick of seeing is people who don't have children (so only have theirselves to think of), telling everyone to calm down, that this country needed a wake up call and things need to change. Whist I agree certain things did need to change I don't think that leaving Europe is the best thing for us or our children.

HappydaysArehere · 24/06/2016 07:52

I am so despondent. I had more faith in the intelligence of the British people. This is dreadful. Our poor young people. I am afraid for our future and angry.

mummytime · 24/06/2016 07:53

As if it makes any difference at all how London voted.

It makes a difference as it shows just how divided our country is. In the last EU referendum the country was much more united over how it voted.
In this one Scotland voted remain, Wales voted leave, NI voted remain, and the general area of London and some of its neighbours voted remain.
Areas that voted remain seem to be the wealthier areas.

My DD will be upset, she is 18 in 3 months and it's her future for the next 50+ years that has been decided without her having a vote.

Donki · 24/06/2016 07:54

YANBU

I am very sad this morning.

CremeBrulee · 24/06/2016 07:55

Just hit up and heard the news. In shock. After worrying all week, I actually went to bed thinking it would all be OK and that sense would prevail. It hasn't.

Oh shit.

Fomalhaut · 24/06/2016 07:55

I voted remain. I'm a uk citizen living in Europe with a European husband and we have a kid, so for me, European freedom of movement has been great.

However, looking at the vote map this morning it's pretty obvious that there's a big economic factor. It's the areas that are both affected by immigration AND haven't done well out of it economically that have voted leave.
Calling these voters racist is missing the point. Immigration works in London - it's powering the economy. and immigration as a whole seems to be boosting the economy. But that doesn't mean it's good for everyone. If you're in a low skilled job in the north, and your wages have been undercut and your GP is full it's not surprising you're not waxing lyrical over the European project.

KidLorneRoll · 24/06/2016 07:59

We've plunged into the abyss on the basis of what? A bunch of lies peddled by the type of people you woudn't trust enough to lend a fiver to. Boris Fucking Johnson and Nigel Cunting Farage. In what kind of sane world are these people fucking able to influence public opinion?

The voting demographics are shocking. We're leaving because of the older generations, the people who will literally suffer the least of all because of this brain-dead, moronic and yes - I would wager enough to have made the 1million odd difference - xenophobic result.

Cheerio NHS. Cheerio thousands if not millions of jobs. Cheerio economic recovery.

HappydaysArehere · 24/06/2016 08:02

I am old and I warned my grandchildren to vote or else those old Daily Mail, Sun readers would scupper their young lives. Now they have done it. Sod it. My heart aches.

user1466748363 · 24/06/2016 08:02

I so agree with you. I voted to remain not just for me but for my children. I am very worried as to the effect it will have for everyone.

GoblinLittleOwl · 24/06/2016 08:08

I voted to leave. I do not consider myself to be racist or xenophobic and I am concerned about the future for my children's generation. I voted to join the E.E.C. in 1975 and I have lived to regret the changes that this brought about, which is one of my reasons for voting Leave now.

I believe that the E.U. to be incompetent, witness its non-handling of the migrant crisis right from the first boats sinking en route for Lampedusa; corrupt (the accounts); indifferent to the concerns of Britain (negotiations); and undemocratic (too many un-elected bureaucrats in positions of power). In my opinion it is already unravelling, and would drag Britain down with it if we remained.

Difficult times ahead, definitely, but this is democracy, and it seems that many votes have come from people whose jobs and life have been affected adversely by EU decisions.

Dawndonnaagain · 24/06/2016 08:09

I am sad and angry. We elect our representatives to stop this sort of nonsense but no, this was done because my school's better than yours, when it comes down to it. Cameron (Eton)felt he couldn't lose face to Farage (Dulwich College). When it comes down to it, it's as simple as that.
Let's face it, many have demanded a referendum on the death penalty and we've never have, and until now were unlikely to have one. That's because we elect people to make those decisions for us, and that's the way it should be.
It will be interesting to see who is moaning about the sharp spike in petrol at the weekend...

MumOnTheRunCatchingUp · 24/06/2016 08:09

More drama! 'Racism won' for gods sake grow the fuck up!

KidLorneRoll · 24/06/2016 08:12

If you don't believe that a very large number of people voted out simply as a "fuck the foreigners" statement then you are, to be frank, deluded.
