...you should watch this before casting your vote?

OP posts:
HarveySchlumpfenburger · 21/06/2016 06:56

I got about 1 min in. Is there any reason you think I need more paranoid tinfoil hat bullshit before I cast my vote?

BeyondTellingEveryoneRealFacts · 21/06/2016 06:58

I dont watch random videos. If you'll kindly sum it up, i might think about it.

HoneyDragon · 21/06/2016 06:59

There is another thread on this discussing this vid.

People were slightly less rude though Grin

Millyonthefloss2 · 21/06/2016 06:59

YANBU
I watched it at the weekend. It's not slick like Brexit the Movie but it's interesting. Tony Benn is in it. J Corbyn isn't but P Corbyn is.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 21/06/2016 07:03

Sorry, HoneyDragon. I'll try and behave myself. Grin

Millyonthefloss2 · 21/06/2016 07:11

It explains how the EU enforces austerity and privatisation in Southern Europe while crippling regional recovery with the single currency.Shows the very real threat of the EU to unions and the NHS .
The EU as The Empire basically.

HoneyDragon · 21/06/2016 07:16

It's ok, the one thing I'm quite certain on about the referendum is its made the entire nation acerbic and testy.

I'm staying zen as fuck for as long as I can.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 21/06/2016 07:22

I'd nearly made it all the way too.

I'm not sure I'll have ever been so glad when a vote is over.

2 more days to go. Although I may have hidden the whole of MN by then.

Ineedmorelemonpledge · 21/06/2016 08:05

Good lord is that George Galloway??

I thought it was Van Morrison. I was waiting for him to burst into a verse of Brown eyed girl....Grin

Damn, I already made my postal vote before I could be persuaded by a random firefighter to change my mind with no facts whatsoever.

Loved Tony Benn though. But sadly he can't give an informed decision on the current situation.

LittleLionMansMummy · 21/06/2016 08:10

George Galloway is in it? [Shudder]

No, I don't think I'll watch it thanks.

KleineDracheKokosnuss · 21/06/2016 08:11

Grin ineed

Postal vote here too. In multiple in fact as I'm a proxy.

Ineedmorelemonpledge · 21/06/2016 08:14

Littlelion it's worth it just to see Georgyboys trilby.

Natty....

Kleine you seem happy to enjoy your multiples...WinkGrin

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 21/06/2016 08:21

You do need to watch on to see George. It was very strange.

I also have strange mental images after they referred to Tony Benn as Mr Benn. Which is technically accurate, but the introduction of children's cartoon characters could bring a whole new angle to the debate.

IAmTheWhoreOfBabylon · 21/06/2016 10:06

George Galloway is odd
I will never get over the trauma of seeing him as a cat in fact I expect one day he will come out as cat man

OldLeftie · 21/06/2016 13:41

Sorry if there's been another thread about this video - that's the problem with Mumsnet - too many threads, you turn away for 5 minutes, it's been and gone, and you've missed it!

I agree about the feeling of tension in the air. Where I live, the streets feel unusually quiet and a lot of people look well tense. In the 1980's I lived in St Pauls, Bristol and the feeling now reminds me very much of the feeling then just before a riot started.

I am a leaver (obviously) but whatever the decision, I just hope that it is clear and decisive. So, whether you're with me or agin me just make sure you vote

A close margin may well be the worst of all worlds.

As for what Tony Benn would have thought, I doubt he would have changed his opinion on his famous 5 questions.

...whatever the decision, I just hope that it is clear and decisive. So, whether you're with me or agin me just make sure you vote

That's the single most sensible thing I've seen anyone say about this blasted referendum.

OldLeftie · 21/06/2016 13:53

Ah found it - the video on the other thread that is.

That's the problem of doing this in my lunch break.

Oh, and thanks WPR.

OP posts:
alltouchedout · 21/06/2016 13:58

Nah, not watching, I've had enough of the brexit stuff from Red Labour on my facebook feed.
I'm very much in the remain camp OP but you're bloody right to hope for a clear and decisive result! This has been a ridiculous campaign on both sides and I am sick to death of it.

BristolLFR · 21/06/2016 14:01

Could I suggest you watch this one in return then?

This guy is a professor of EU law, possibly the most knowledgable and impartial someone can be.

WindPowerRanger · 21/06/2016 14:03

You're welcome, OldLeftie.

Hasn't the campaign been depressing? I've been left with a feeling that, while there are still very good constituency MPs (like mine), there is a startling and very damaging dearth of political talent at the leadership level in all the parties (except perhaps the SNP. I do not like Wee Nicola, but she is a very clever politician).

And in Europe too, actually, save for Oma Merkel. An age of nonentities.

A better politician and strategist than Cameron (as Max Hastings said, his idea of a strategy is surviving until next Saturday) would not have been boxed into offering a referendum, and would probably have done better in negotiations with Europe anyway.

Alisvolatpropiis · 21/06/2016 14:06

No thank you, I've seen enough paranoia and outright lies.

Cornishclio · 21/06/2016 14:20

Yes YABU. That is one hour long and has George Galloway in it. I am of the REMAIN camp but agree an indecisive vote is the worst of all decisions but sadly I think this may be what we get as I know lots of people intend to vote LEAVE. Very close call either way. Lots of lies and paranoia on both sides. If we vote LEAVE though it wont be too long I guess until there is another Independence vote in Scotland.

OldLeftie · 21/06/2016 14:26

Too late Bristol, watched it already.

Completely agree WPR - shittest, most depressing campaign of any kind that I've ever seen.

I really wouldn't have believed that pretty much all of 'em on both sides could have been quite as crap as they are - and am regularly told by friends that I'm the most cynical person they know.

As for Cameron's idea of strategy, I heard on the radio a few months ago that when in discussion with MI5/6 chiefs with the rest of the cabinet he would ask "so what's the strategy?" thinking it meant the same as "what do we do next. All that money spent on an expensive education and they still couldn't get him to understand what strategy actually is. The sooner that man's gone the better. He's not only a bloody menace, but an idiot too!

Got to go, work to do.

OP posts:
LettyJane · 21/06/2016 14:42

Whoever wins in my view is decisive. That is how democracy works. I have always said reamin will win and I want that. It will be better for Britain.

Whatever people do , do vote. Get out early to vote before you forget to vote or get too busy with work and children otherwise only the OAPs will vote and it won't be representative of all age groups.

ShoesieQ · 22/06/2016 10:21

Bristol - thanks so much for posting that video. I'd not seen it, and it's the most sane, level headed and fair take on why to vote Remain that I've seen.
