DH so forgetful

DH is early 40s and just so forgetful or maybe absent minded.

Yesterday I discovered that when he had been sitting in the back of the car he'd undone my daughter's seat belt for her car seat when he undid his own the day before. Thank good I checked.

Today I have found the back door unlocked since he went out there 2 days ago.

He is forever leaving doors unlocked or the car unlocked. Once he even left the car boot wide open in a car park. He forgets to set the burglar alarm quite often too.

Should I be worried or just annoyed? Sometimes I get really worried about this, but other times I'm pissed off because I feel I have to check everything he does to make sure.

I'm like your DH despite best efforts. DH is always picking me up on stuff and tbh that really helps me not be so absent minded. I have got a lot better and run a lot of internal monologues to help remember to do stuff. It's worse when I am stressed or rushing ie always!

So if I were you I wouldn't be worried, just annoyed!

Yanbu, I don't think his forgetfulness should be excused when it means that he is potentially putting you all at risk. He needs to take a bit more responsibility for this.

Might be worth sending him to gp just in case, does he see it as a problem or just you overreacting?

He just never seems to concentrate on what he's doing. At the airport once he couldn't remember if he'd put the bags in the car while I was putting DD in car seat. After I'd driven about 10 miles he made me stop to check they were in the car boot. Bloody annoying. I just wish he would focus on what he's doing so he knows he's done it!

Zigzag I think I'm going to write a log for a month to show him. When I point things out he says I'm having a go at him. To be fair, I probably am. I feel like I do all the thinking so these mistakes just piss me off. I need to log it then show him in a calm way.

Does he have anxiety or depression? When I have phases of anxiety it makes me panicky and forgetful.
